PhD Student in the @FurlongLab @EMBL
Interested in gene expression and genome topology regulation during embryogenesis
From ๐ฎ๐น , in Heidelberg ๐ฉ๐ช
We're looking for a masters student to join the @MundlosLab in Berlin ! ๐ฅ
Learn how to apply new synthetic biology tools to re-design the mammalian non-coding genome and study how enhancers regulate transcription in embryos. ๐
We r looking for a computational biol/bioinformatician. If you love analyzing state-of-the art genomics data and get a buzz from making discovers in biology, please apply. We are a very international, interdisciplinary, fun team that loves science. #Jobs https://t.co/XLD3X4ZEUD
Very happy to see our last paper of 2023 is out:
The loci of many genes with redundant function (including paralogs) are in close proximity in 3D #Chromatin_loops. We show that such gene-gene loops often involve genes that cross-regulate each otherโs expression.

Are you a recent or soon-to-be MSc graduate seeking additional lab experience before you decide on your next steps? The @furlonglab at @EMBLHeidelberg is looking for a candidate for a 6 to 12-month position beginning in May.
The ideal candidate will have experience with basic molecular biology techniques, such as DNA extraction, PCR, and cloning. Prior experience in Drosophila genetics and/or confocal imaging is a plus, but not required. Exceptional organisational/communication skills are essential.
Happy to announce that our story on #DNAmethylation at #enhancers is out today in @MolecularCell! https://t.co/S1QtIcnUS2
It was a fantastic PhD journey in the lab of @arnaud_kr @EMBL.
Follow the ๐งต to find out whether #DNAmethylation is important for enhancer activity:

Ecstatic to announce our latest project characterizing the continuum of regulatory and expression changes across the first 20 hours of Drosophila embryonic development! ๐งต1/n https://t.co/VKLldj0jqy
JOB OFFER! Would you like to experience working in a great scientific environment in the Furlong lab at @EMBLHeidelberg for a bit? Perhaps this is of interest to you. See details in the thread below. And I'm happy to answer questions! :)
And please feel free to retweet! :)
Ever wondered whether #DNAmethylation instructs the activity of #enhancers?
Wonder no more! Our single molecule data shows in most cases it does not! Yet, it regulates a small % of cell-type specific enhancers.
Preprint of my PhD work in @arnaud_kr's lab!

Our review with @Eileen_Furlong is out! We discuss exciting work on the ways that enhancers communicate with promoters and how this communication can be specific. https://t.co/naJw71qp3y
The DB unit @EMBL is hiring a research technician to run the Drosophila Injection Service and oversight the Fly Facility. Please RT! All the details here: https://t.co/fPoHOvaLAw
Optogenetic depletion of nuclear factors in embryos. Work from fantastic PhD student @AnnaCKoegler. Building on LEXY from Di Ventura lab
@barbara_synbio, iLEXY has improved depletion efficiency, and tunable recovery kinetics- works great for most TFs. https://t.co/qhiFHw7Ro2
