@annissa_conway I think it really depends on the maturity and behavior of your students. For example, younger kids are more likely to wonder onto websites they aren't supposed to be on while older kids are more likely to stay on task.

@carlyxavier28 I think that PBL could certainly include a weekly project, but there would have to be more for the class to truly be considered project-based learning.

@scarbroughh22 In person courses are the most beneficial for students. With asynchronous classes, there isn't as much personal accountability for the student. Without seeing the teacher/other students every day, there is less incentive for the student to put forth full effort. #xuedchat
@LaurenAngelone Our lesson involves Mill Creek which is a waterway in Cincinnati. Students will be presented with an ecological problem and have to problem solve to complete the assignment. This is PBL because it is a real-world problem with a real-world solution.

@LaurenAngelone experience of being a student, I remember some of my teachers providing multiple options for different assignments. These sometimes were separated by visual, auditory, or tactical learning styles. The teacher reasoned by saying that "everyone learns differently." #xuedchat
@LaurenAngelone Blended learning is the combination of learning in a "supervised brick and mortar location" and learning using online tools. On the contrary, personalized learning caters to the individual preference of the student, whether this be online or in person. From personal #xuedchat
@LaurenAngelone I would really enjoy using the literature tool that connects students together from around the world. I feel as if students would be able to grow in their understandings about how other people think from outside the place they live.
@Hallor1Ann @LaurenAngelone I agree with your idea that everyone in the class should feel connected. The read aloud project is definitely a way to do that! #xuedchat
@LaurenAngelone about college students having more access, it would certainly be dangerous and inappropriate for younger students to be allowed this level of access. #xuedchat 3/
@LaurenAngelone "revenge porn" at his university. However, the university blocked all sources including this term as they deemed it inappropriate. Gilliard argues that this blocks students from learning about everything the world has to offer. While I personally agree with Gilliard #xuedchat 2/
@JuliaMu98845595 This is definitely something of vital importance for our students. Teaching our students how to be critical thinkers and consumers. #xuedchat
One of the strategies from the first article was reflecting dialogically. The main goal of reflecting dialogically is use texts to explore how gender and sexual identities are represented in digital media.
Some questions that we can ask about reflecting dialogically are: Are there generalizations that can be made about production of certain images? or Who selects the images that result from Google Search? These questions can spur an interesting dialogue.
