Fmr US Senate staff & @deloitteconsulting; Pats Fan. Rts ≠ endorsements, Tweets are mine yada, yada, I had the lobster bisque, yada, yada...Biggie Smalls 4Mayor
I do continue to crack up at this idea that Democrat politician moral fiber was so high at some point. When I started working, the Senate Democratic caucus was home to Sen. Killed That Girl in Chappaquiddick, Sen. Waitress Sandwich, and Sen. Klan Member
9 days after experts in the NY Times said men would never fly, Orville and Wilbur took off. 66 years later, we landed on the moon. Today, we rescued a pilot stranded in Iran with no loss of American life while also setting up a spaceship to orbit the moon. America is awesome.
@mikepat711@ChadB299 The clause covers all of their “official duties” speech. See the background there; she made these comments in the Capitol. She can say whatever. But to answer your question, it is probably both. Look at her answer about foreign policy and Venezuela at Munich Security Conference
@mikepat711@ChadB299 It's in the Constitution to allow them to debate, but I obviously don't think the founders ever intended it to be used for this purpose, or how Harry Reid abused it in the midst of a presidential election.
*Why are we blowing up ships in international waters?*
Because they’re weapons platforms used by the enemy.
*Why aren’t we rescuing enemy sailors?*
Because nuclear subs don’t give away their position in wartime.
*Why should the warmongers have any say over Iran’s post-Islamic Republic future?*
Because that is a spoil the US and Israel will win for themselves on the battlefield.
Have we forgotten? That is how wars work. https://t.co/JbloryzwOf
Why now?
The ״Closing Window״ Paradox.
There is a recurring dynamic in history:
When the window to act against dangerous regimes is open, urgency feels low.
When urgency finally arrives, the window to stop them has already closed.
It always feels “too early” until it’s too late.
North Korea, Nazi Germany, and now Iran.
Iran was building missile factories so it could produce thousands of missiles. Imagine what it’s doing now to its neighbors, and multiply that by 50.
Iran was hardening and burying its nuclear program deep underground so nobody could destroy it, not even the US.
Step by step Iran was moving towards immunity.
Wait two more years, and you lose the ability to act.
The closing window never announces itself.
Responsible leadership must act before it’s too late.
That’s what’s happening now.
Tax and Spend
So the Mamdani budget for New York City at $127 billion exceeds the budget for the state of Florida ($116 billion) which has 3 times as many people and yet people are moving to Florida for a better quality of life.
So the answer is to get a mayor who will put efficiency back in the city not to raise property or other taxes by 10 per cent as such a tax jolt will kick off yet another round of departures from New York while Florida shows that it can be done. And to compare apples to apples the New York State budget last year was $254 billion. So it’s not about insufficient taxes but spending that far exceeds what could be accomplished with good government. (Miami Dade budget is on 13 billion).
New York City has been there before, teetering on bankruptcy in the 1970s until fiscal sanity was restored and when then happened the city took off as a great place to live. And yet here we are again back at tax and spend oblivion.
@mkhammer@letshangoutguys@mkhammer 's point is one of the biggest issues of disconnect between elites/the entitled class and normies. Actions having consequences. Elites want to be left undisturbed, fumbling through the dark, while assuring everyone that they know best. Everyone else lives w/consequences
