@MeganHutcheson7 @psyc220 #CD7 I absolutely love your view on parenting. It is so important to allow the next generation to be exposed to oppression if we want any change to occur. Recognition is the first step to change.
@psyc220 #CD7 I big goal I have is to be an executive at a big company. A lot of times the people on the exec board tend to be white men. Having women and minorities that are in the positions talk and transform stereotypes within the executives could help others work to get there
@MeganHutcheson7 @psyc220 @psyc220 #CD6 Yes! The wage gap between men and women has been set back even more from the pandemic because of childcare and layoffs. Women are still seen as caretakers sometimes which is unbelievably sad. Women of color have seen even worse setbacks in the wage gap.
@goldstone_29 @psyc220 @psyc220 #CD6 I agree with your point and it's so unfortunate. The church needs to understand that society is starting to have a more positive view of different sexual orientations. At some point, I feel that they will have to become more accepting or they will lose supporters.
@psyc220 #CD6 Those who cannot afford them have to live in a hearing world deaf, which creates fewer opportunities for the child family that could not afford the cochlear implants (2/2)
@psyc220 #CD6 Those who have disabilities that live in high ESE are more "privileged" than those with the same disability in lower SES. They get more opportunities to live in the world easier. An ex of this is a deaf person whose parents are able to afford cochlear implants (1/2)
@marissahart23 @psyc220 #220Ethics @psyc220 I agree that he was employing the ethic of community because he is using the freedom to vote act to unite a group of people.
@psyc220 #220Ethics Governor Christine makes an effort to use the ethic of community and loyalty to ingroup because he is advocating for republicans to vote in large numbers for the next election so the next president is from the republican party.
For years I have worked with thousands of Republicans across this country to make sure people turned out & voted. Given what President Biden and the Democrats are trying to do to this country, Republicans will and must vote in big numbers in ‘22 & ‘24-no matter what anyone says.
@psyc220 #CD5a One barrier that JMU creates is to deaf JMU nursing students. One of my friends in the nursing school needed to get a specific stethoscope that she had to learn how to use herself because there wasn't anyone that had done any research about it.
@alex_chelpon @psyc220 #CD4 @psyc220 Understanding & acknowledging all of our differences is what feminism is all about. Finding that commonality that we may have can create an even stronger bond within society & with those we may not have seen as "our people". An appreciation for others strengthens us
@samipsych @psyc220 #CD4 @psyc220 I absolutely love how you brought into account toxic masculinity when talking about feminism. It's so upsetting that men are shamed for feeling and showing any emotion. Society creates a barrier that people are afraid to cross because of the feeling of being judged.
#CD4 @psyc220 Feminism creates a bond between all women & those whose gender orientation & sexual orientation are "different" within society. Feminism builds confidence & love in those who need it. Although everyone comes from diff experiences feminism uses them as an advantage.
@alex_chelpon#cd3a @psyc220 Yes! Telling someone they're wrong never works out the way you want. Would you think having them talk to someone that has experienced racism firsthand would help make them see another perspective? Being sensitive about all perspectives could help that change occur.
@terrykiiim @psyc220 #CD3a @psyc220 Its so important to be open minded! Racism is such an issue within our society, ignoring it like many people do doesnt allow us to improve as people and as a culture. Getting educated on racism will hopefully start to break the social construct that we have created
#CD3b @psyc220 In terms of connection between race and views of national identity, this tweet shows the power of the "American dream" and how immigrants identify with it. Views of a nation and national identity are conflated because the American dream is what immigrants come for.
#Migrants subject themselves to literal hell so that they can have a chance at the American dream. They deserve a chance to live and thrive here in the land of #opportunity. #Immigration https://t.co/C75PzTuaY6
@psyc220 #CD3a If someone didnt believe in racism I would explain to them the stats behind healthcare workers racism. In 2012, they found that 67% of doctors have a bias against African American patients. If people we rely on have biases it shows where we are as a society.
@kaylashepard_ Reading the questions on the MSISS was honestly so sad. I am privileged as well in my sexual orientation and cant believe that we live in a world where people have to go thru such sad and dehumanizing things just because of their sexual orientation which they have no control over
@samipsych @psyc220 This is such a sad mindset. I'm seeing this in my grandmother at this very moment. She knows that she is losing her hearing, but refuses to get herself hearing aids because she doesnt want to feel like she is old. She and so many others go to such great lengths to not look old.
