LHS Future Teachers Club, led by teacher & advisor Mrs. Angela Brooder, attended a Careers in Ed conference at @buffalostate. Students were excited to discover that the keynote speaker was Mrs. Alison Camp from @WilliamStreet14, adding a special connection to the day’s events.
Thank you @howie_hua for the idea of turning “Which One Doesn’t Belong?” questions into a “convince me” competition!! The arguments were outstanding and my 6th graders were so engaged!
My favorite slide from one of my favorite talks at @NCTM. One of the biggest challenges facing math teachers (whether they know it or not!) is turning wrong answers into learning. Behold! The Super Wrong, Kinda Right continuum. /by @ottensam https://t.co/r6VuU0AY5t
Students at William Street School were roaring into fall as they watched their teachers run a relay race wearing inflatable suits. Learn more about the day, and its message of community building, at https://t.co/XuV788ZhX4
Starting my football math unit early this year!! Nobody likes long division and word problems - hopefully our love for the Bills can soften the blow of the math!!
Saw this idea from @drnickimath recently. 🤩
Had my students fill out the true scale #multiplication table. Really helped them with a conceptual understanding of multiplication.
I gave them the template below, but #students could create from scratch.

@robertkaplinsky I keep meaning to find grant money to have VR in my math class. Imagine the impact on learning geometry, rates, proportions, %, etc. Imagine the impact if kids could actually plant a garden, build a house or be in a store to find the best deal, cooking meals for proportions…
@Mathowitz Tough to answer without knowing the kid. C or D? But, if they were in class each day & showed understanding content, I’d have to ask myself if doing the work I assigned would give them a grade for content or is it really just a grade for showing responsibility & accountability?
Mass shootings are not a political issue. Men, Women and Children dying from mass shootings are not a political issue. Thoughts and prayers are not enough. America is a GREAT COUNTRY. Put the politics aside, work TOGETHER and pass laws to ensure we are no longer known as the land of mass shootings.
I don’t understand when parents are all “how dare they change the way math is taught, now I can’t help my kids.” Like babe, it’s not about YOU. It’s about helping your kids learn the same math YOU HATED … in a way that doesn’t lead to THEM hating it! #iteachmath
Some of @LancasterCSD & @Erie1BOCES finest are spending this long weekend filling our “math buckets” thanks to the annual @AMTNYS state conference!
