🚨 A new report by @humanrights1st, @TheRWCHR, @osfEUpolicy, and @REDRESSTrust analyzes how #Magnitsky-style human rights and corruption sanctions are used in the #US, #Canada, #UK, and #EU, as well as the current gaps in their implementation:

HRF calls on the State Dept to publicly explain why it reportedly lifted a corruption-related visa ban on former Bulgarian official Alexander Manolev. This move is the latest in a growing trend of the Trump admin easing corruption-related sanctions. https://t.co/GHT144yCLf
[email protected] & @transparencyUSA condemn Trump admin for lifting Global Magnitsky sanctions on sr Hungarian official Antal Rogán. This delisting raises grave concerns that the US is undermining an important corruption accountability tool. https://t.co/TPjEv9bDHR
Corruption demands accountability. Today @humanrights1st recommends Global #Magnitsky sanctions against an Egyptian intelligence official and a U.S. company for their alleged role in bribing fmr Sen. Menendez to ensure U.S. support for #Egypt despite human rights abuses.
.@humanrights1st urges the U.S. to impose #Magnitsky Sanctions on an Egyptian official & U.S. company involved in bribing ex-Senator Menendez. Corruption like this undermines Congress’s role as a check on U.S. foreign policy. Accountability is essential. https://t.co/beWmasEPm5

This impactful global advocacy has made clear: #Magnitsky sanctions work best when governments act based on civil society recommendations on the most critical issues and abusive actors to target. And #MagnitskyMonth is a time for civil society to urge governments to do just that.
Each November, @humanrights1st and our partners mark #MagnitskyMonth in honor of Sergei Magnitsky, who was killed in a Russian prison on Nov. 16, 2009. His death sparked a global movement to hold human rights abusers and corrupt actors accountable through #Magnitsky sanctions.
To share these findings, we hosted a series of events with our partners at @REDRESSTrust, @OpenSociety, @TheRWCHR, and more to call on governments to be refocusing their sanctions work to address these gaps. https://t.co/lQOlp7HeMQ
