- We are getting storms in the KC area today
- They fire up west, race east. Quick/hard hit
- Several storms are likely to go severe, but not all. Some (50%?) will fall in the intensity gaps and just get regular spring storms
- Likely all clear in KC by 8 pm

POTATO HAIL EXPLAINED

- Today’s atmosphere is capable of producing 4” hail in narrow swaths in strongest cells
- The descriptor for this is usually “softball”
- Softballs are uniform in size/shape. Hail is not. Potatoes are not.
- Potatoes are smaller than softballs, so it’s less hype-y
- It gets the people talking. Awareness: raised ✅
- Potatoes are a superior descriptor
- Get on the ice potato bandwagon

Yesterday’s tornado just south of Clinton, MO is incredible to watch. Thank you to Amanda Johnson for sharing this security camera video hitting the south side of Clinton. Notice how it hits the barrels first, then almost immediately ramps up and begins tearing apart trees. So dangerous and in just a few seconds.
