Hello friends! I am running for State Assembly here in Wisconsin. It’s time to fight for the freedom of working people! Check out https://t.co/osOTMWQtQW for more info.
My name is Isaia Ben-Ami. I am a lifelong Madisonian, grandchild of immigrants, and public policy professional running to represent the 76th District in the Wisconsin State Assembly.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani mocks Ronald Reagan’s infamous quote.
“I can think of nine words more terrifying than ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help…’”
“I worked all day and can’t feed my family.”
Gosh. It’s just so terrible that Rep.Vining would fight for *checks notes*… special education funding?
You can care about funding education and fiscal responsibility. The point of government isn’t to save money, it’s to help build a more perfect union.
It’s particularly brazen that Robyn Vining issued a statement opposing the $1.8 billion proposal (most of which was one-time) on grounds of “fiscal responsibility.” She claimed to be concerned that the bill would create a deficit in the next budget.
This is the same woman who not only proposed approximately *$3 billion* in new special ed funding (every year) at 100%, but making that amount sum sufficient, making it a blank check to school districts that will be covered by state taxpayers no questions asked for the rest of time.
She is a completely clueless partisan hack with no compass or principles, who will say and do anything if it fits the moment.
The Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Fund has protected 750k acres of Wisconsin land since 1989 — the Ice Age Trail, Devil's Lake, Pheasant Branch, and hundreds of other places we love. The GOP Legislature refused to renew it, so funding runs out June 30. As governor, I'll get it back.
"No question," Evers said when asked if they had the voters earlier
The gov on the 3 Republicans who joined Dems in voting no: "Well, the Tiffany thing sure didn't help when he's corralling people saying if you vote for this you're going to be in a bad place."
THE IVIEW SUN...
Progressive (and sustainable) political parties don’t elect candidates from decades ago. They evolve. They elect candidates of *today*.
While you focus in the rear view mirror, most Americans are looking for a better future.
Nationally, I’ve said for years that Bill Clinton couldn’t win a primary in his party these days. This data shows that Jim Doyle likely couldn’t win a primary in his party these days. That’s how radical - and angry - Democrats have become.
Here are the numbers: Wisconsin closed last fiscal year with $4.6 billion in the general fund. This deal spends $1.8 billion of it on a one-time rebate and a permanent tax cut that will reduce state revenue indefinitely. The result is a $2.9 billion deficit by 2029.
This is the statement I keep coming back to on this proposed budget deal. Hesselbein and Senate Dems not being in this negotiation is just baffling, when it's clear Democratic votes will be needed to pass this in the Senate.
The Evers administration has just not adjusted to a post-2024 world with new maps — his maps! He fought so hard for fairer maps that would give Democrats in the legislature an opportunity to have a seat at the table ... and then never invited them to dinner.
Watching @ssmhealthwi very closely as management at St. Mary’s in Madison is bordering on illegal union busting as its nurses try to organize with @SEIUWI.
Employees should be left to make their own decisions without interference from mgmt on organizing.
Watching closely. 👀
Pete Buttigieg: "My second greatest fear for my party is if we win in November that we forget that a return to the prior status quo is not the right answer either. What we need is a series of clean bills, legislative projects that will deliver higher wages, that will deliver universal health insurance coverage, that will deliver things like paid family leave."
AOC says get rid of the filibuster:
When you have to meet a 60 vote threshold, you’re not really responsible for any consequential decisions. Let Lisa Murkowski take that vote on The Save Act. Let Susan Collins take that vote on it. I dare you. Call the question. Let these senators assume personal responsibility for their own decisions instead of hiding behind this amorphous lack of responsibility for anything. That’s what the filibuster represents.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on if she will run for President or Senate in 2028
"What's funny is they assume my ambition is a title or a seat.
My ambition is way bigger than that. My ambition is to change this country. Presidents come and go, single-payer healthcare is forever."
