In the latest edition of The Voice of AFSA, we meet Faustin Vuningoma, Coordinator of the Rwanda Climate Change and Development Network (@RccdnRwanda), Rwanda's leading civil society network advocating for climate resilience, climate justice, and equitable development. But before becoming one of Africa's respected voices on climate change and agroecology, Faustin spent more than three decades as a refugee, helped rebuild Rwanda as a district mayor after the 1994 genocide, and dedicated his life to serving communities across the continent. In this deeply personal conversation, he reflects on resilience, public service, food sovereignty, and the responsibility we all share to leave a better world for future generations.

Today @RccdnRwanda, launched the Capacity Strengthening Training for @trocaire Partners and Multi-Stakeholder Practitioners on Agroecology.

The training presents a strategic opportunity to consolidate previous learning while directly
responding to participants' expressed need for more practical exposure. By fostering stronger
collaboration among government institutions, civil society organizations, and academia, the
initiative will contribute to building national capacity in agroecology and advancing sustainable,
climate-resilient agricultural systems in Rwanda.

RCCDN was honored to participate in the dissemination meeting of Rwanda’s Updated Climate Action Plan (NDC 3.0), organized by @EnvironmentRw and @REMA_Rwanda

This important milestone marks a new phase of raising awareness, strengthening understanding, and fostering inclusive stakeholder engagement in climate action implementation.

The emphasizes were on the critical role of community advocacy in ensuring that local voices are heard and actively shape climate solutions. Strong community engagement is key to translating national ambition into local impact.

RCCDN joined other partner organizations at Centre Christus, Remera, for an intensive three-day Advanced Communication Skills Workshop organized by @CeciRwanda Rwanda.

Representing our commitment to staying at the forefront of digital advocacy, the workshop provided hands-on training in modern tools designed to amplify our message of climate resilience and environmental protection.

This means moving past standard reporting to a more sophisticated, tech-driven approach that ensures our climate justice message is both professionally delivered and deeply inclusive.

Today, RCCDN convened the National Agroecology Steering Committee meeting in Kigali, bringing partners together to review progress, strengthen coordination, and advance agroecology implementation in Rwanda. The meeting also reviewed the status of agroecology integration within Rwanda’s climate strategies, highlighting its role in strengthening climate resilience and delivering national climate commitments.
