We analyzed 649 variables.
The answer: Socioeconomics (SES); with brain patterns pointing at sleep & stress as drivers.
Even brain-IQ associations were better explained by SES confounding.

How do brains change with age? By analyzing brain activity throughout the lives of mice, @ItamarKahn@GaganWig@ezra_wn & team found that the rodent’s brain ages similarly to that of a human. Studying mice could therefore be a powerful way to learn more about how our brains decline as we grow old.

Excited to share our latest research on the hippocampal CA2 region's role in social aggression! 🧠🐭
In this pre-print, we provide a unified view of the two major roles previously ascribed to CA2: social memory and the promotion of aggression. Our findings reveal a neural mechanism for the long-standing observation in the literature that social novelty can enhance aggression.
