Behold: new and previously unseen imagery from our Artemis II mission!
These images were captured on April 6, 2026, when the four astronauts aboard the Orion spacecraft conducted the lunar flyby portion of their ten-day journey.
What do soccer and space have in common? ⚽🚀
Find out at @NASA’s exhibit at FIFA Fan Festival™ Houston, June 11–July 19. Explore @Space_Station research, discover how space science shapes life on Earth, and hear from Artemis II crew members after their journey around the Moon. https://t.co/Sce3Y92Z2t
You know him now as a mission specialist on Artemis III, but recently, Andre Douglas was a backup crew member on Artemis II! 🚀

✨ Cosmic Reef: Star Birth in Red and Blue
Here is a mesmerizing animation of two giant nebulae—the red NGC 2014 and the blue NGC 2020. These are not just clouds of gas, but veritable "nurseries" for newborn stars, located 163,000 light-years away in the Large Magellanic Cloud.
Because of its resemblance to vibrant, swirling underwater landscapes, this region has been nicknamed the "Cosmic Reef."
From Moon joy to Earth joy, the journey continues.
Before any great road trip, you start with prep: check the weather, tune the car, pack smart.
Artemis III is no different.
We’re building our science game plan, studying Earth’s atmosphere and how space affects the human body, to ensure future Artemis missions are safe and ready for the journey.
Proud to continue our partnership with @esa as Luca Parmitano joins the Artemis III crew.
Great things happen when trusted partners come together around bold goals. Together, Artemis III will prove the capabilities and operational rhythm needed for the next era of lunar exploration.
I was excited for today…excited to cheer on the Agency and my friends as we named the Artemis III crew.
What I didn’t expect was the feeling of complete, unbridled happiness in my soul as @Astro_Jeremy (from afar), @Astro_Christina, @AstroVicGlover and I ceremonially handed our baton to the next crew.
We did it, and we did it well. @AstroKomrade, @astro_luca, Frank Rubio, @Astro_AndreD — you have the controls!! You will do it, and I know you will do it well. Godspeed, Artemis III
“We just want to say how completely fired up we are for you.”
Artemis II crew members @Astro_Reid, @AstroVicGlover, and @Astro_Christina hand the Artemis baton to the newly-announced Artemis III crew.
“[NASA’s] collective effort will lift all of us up on that SLS rocket when we hit launch day.”
Artemis III commander @AstroKomrade reflects on the path that led to here, and how this mission will lay the path for all future Artemis missions.
