@aelluswamy Many of us were equally thrilled by this marvellous piece of technology, until Tesla decided to police its customers and revoked the SW package we paid for without any prior notice. Does this endorsement of yours mean that the ban is being lifted?

@martijn87 @bartosz Owners(!) mess with car SW all the time. Engine ECU remap, speed limit removal, DPF disable, etc. Potentially unsafe? True. Owner liable? True. Manufacturer okay to police their customers and disable parts of the car remotely without prior notification? Don’t think so.

Device is detected and linked it with the car, fine (is this level of telemetry ok btw?). Wouldn't it just be decent to send the owner a message that they have a given timeframe to remove the device before revoking anything?

Since when is a manufacturer entitled to police their customers? (Sidenote: tampering here was plugging a device in and that’s it.) Service centers claim to know nothing about a remedy btw.

Should one tune the engine ECU on a BMW, is their engine to be disabled remotely for good? I do not believe that Tesla should police their customers. That’s why we have authorities.

Hmm. I paid 8000€ for traffic light awarness in EU. It was working fine. Then @tesla remotely disabled it. What is the LEGAL basis for that @teslaeurope ? Is @EUCouncil fine with manufacturers charging money and then disabling things remotely with no refunds?
