If you want to fully understand how rampant #Antisemitism is in the UK just look at the large number of people on the far left including the #GreenParty who are making every effort to justify or belittle antisemitic attacks.
I’ve just read the London Mayor’s statement about yesterday’s racist terrorist attack but this week he was in Spain talking about Gaza again.
There are well over a hundred conflicts going on in the world, so why is Israel/Gaza the only so many people seem to care about?
In Sudan - the worst humanitarian crisis on the planet - famine has killed 500,000 children, 10 million people are starving, and tens of thousands of civilians were murdered in just a few days, yet this receives virtually no attention from so many politicians or most of the media.
And why do so many people in politics not understand that obsessively singling out the world’s only Jewish state and the constant yet false allegations it is subjected to drive hostility towards people who are identified with it, which is the vast majority of Jewish people?
I think this is a large part of what drives antisemitism in the UK.
I grew up in Golders Green in the 50s and early 60s. It was a perfect place to be happily and unproblematically Jewish and British. Now we need leaders of British Muslim communities to be vocal in their abhorrence at these violent acts - verbal as well as physical
Golders Green. Was anybody surprised? Britain, you ignored us when we said you had a problem and now it may be too big to solve.
Prayers for the victims.
This is where the confusion starts.
Councils using county names… that aren’t actually those counties.
It’s been repeated for decades - so many people assume councils or lieutenancies are the counties.
But they aren't.
So why are we pretending otherwise?
I was asked by @TheSun to write about what it feels like as a British Jew. Hopefully I summed up how some of you are feeling (obvs I am also waiting for the onslaught of people to tell me how I’m wrong).
@AlisonMoyet Very good point. Also with so much technology we were promised more leisure with computers doing many jobs but clearly this hasn't happened.
Never forget this. 🇮🇱
Bill Clinton: “Palestinians were offered a state on the entire West Bank and east Jerusalem as its capital. Israel accepted, but Palestinians refused. They did not care about a homeland for the Palestinians. All they wanted was to kill Israelis."
Share. Share. And share again.
It’s the weirdest feeling having grown up Gen X & been schooled hard by the left on racism throughout the 80s & 90s, really sincerely believed they meant it, lived by it, only to watch them break all their own rules with Jews. Like it meant nothing. Whole edifice has crumbled.
If you claim to support human rights yet can’t bring yourself to show solidarity with those fighting for their liberty in Iran, you’ve revealed yourself. You don’t give a damn about people being oppressed and brutalised so long as it’s being done by the enemies of your enemies.
