Eli Lilly just released Phase 3 data for retatrutide, their next-generation obesity drug. 2,339 patients. 80 weeks. The biggest trial in the field.
8 things worth knowing:
1️⃣ It beats every obesity drug on the market. Wegovy (semaglutide): 15% Zepbound (tirzepatide): 22% Retatrutide: 25%
2️⃣ You don’t need the highest dose. The lowest (4mg) already outperforms Wegovy. 18% weight loss with one dose increase. Fewer people quit than on the sugar pill.
3️⃣ At two years, weight was still dropping. No plateau. Patients with BMI over 35 lost 84 pounds. 30% of their body weight.
4️⃣ Some patients stopped taking it because they lost too much weight. That’s never happened with an obesity drug.
5️⃣ It works differently. Ozempic and Zepbound suppress appetite. Retatrutide does that too, but its third receptor (glucagon) flips your metabolism toward burning stored fat. In Phase 2, ketone bodies rose 2-3x, confirming the body was switching fuel sources.
6️⃣ It causes a side effect no other obesity drug does: tingling and numbness (12.5%). New receptor, new trade-off. Worth watching.
7️⃣ In a separate study, it cleared 86% of liver fat. 93% of patients reached normal levels. 1 in 3 adults have fatty liver disease. No approved drug comes close.
8️⃣ Two-thirds of patients on the highest dose were reclassified out of obesity entirely. They started at BMI 40. They finished under 30. That’s not just weight loss. That’s a medical reclassification.
@US_FDA filing expected late 2026.
The Trump FDA story is crazy
Big Tobacco donated $5,000,000 to Trump's super PAC
Two days later, Reynolds American's executives met with Trump at his Florida golf club to demand the FDA reverse its flavored vape ban
Trump then personally called RFK Jr. and his health secretary to complain about the ban
Then questioned the FDA commissioner directly for not moving fast enough
The FDA commissioner who said no resigned days later and so did RFK Jr.'s chief spokesperson, citing the vape policy as the reason
Then the ban was lifted within a week
The White House says it had nothing to do with the $5,000,000
My boss's boss is like 42, never married, no kids. Earns $275-300K per year. Goes on a minimum of two international vacations a year w/ his girlfriend. 10+ days, all out.
Eats the best food, stays in top notch accomodations. Excursions, tours, nicest beaches, etc.
Great guy, I'm happy for him.
But what I've realized is that without kids, you end up chasing a lifestyle that has to continually be topped in order for you to be satisfied and find happiness.
What he and others like him don't understand is that when you have children, seeing THEM experience life's most basic things and watching their eyes light up at all the "firsts", brings greater pleasure and joy than any vacation or travel experience ever could.
Seeing THEM try blueberries for the first time is greater than dining at the best 5 star restaurant in Europe.
Seeing THEM learn how to walk is greater than walking the Great Wall of China or strolling along the most picturesque beach.
Watching THEM giggle uncontrollably at "peek-a-boo" tops any A-list comedian act.
Seeing THEIR excitement when building a fort out of cardboard boxes and making a door big enough for daddy is superior to staying at 5-star resorts.
Flying kites with THEM far outweighs excursions like parasailing or helicopter rides.
Seeing THEM perform a recital on stage for the first time is more rewarding than watching a Broadway show or top notch symphony orchestra.
-----------------
When you have children, all of a sudden you realize that life's greatest joys are not in the pursuit of things or pleasure or travel, but rather in the LOVE and bond you share with your very own image bearers.
Seeing the beauty and magnificence and wonder of life all over again for the first time through THEIR eyes and expressions gives you something the world simply cannot offer, nor even come close.
Dr. Daniel Amen said something that made me pause and think about how we parent today.
“We are raising mentally weak children because we overdo for them.”
He explained that when you do too much for your kids, you’re actually increasing your own self-esteem by stealing theirs. Mental toughness comes from solving problems — not from having every problem solved for you.
If your daughter forgets her homework, don’t bring it to school.
If she doesn’t bring a jacket on a cold day, she feels the cold.
When she says “I’m bored,” don’t rush to fix it — just say, “I wonder what you’re going to do about it,” and then stay quiet.
It’s tough love, but according to Dr. Amen, that’s how you build resilience instead of helplessness.
Man makes a visual demonstration of how American bread is actually made
Many Americans know our bread is toxic by now but they don’t really understand what the process of making it actually looks like and how bad it really is
This is eye opening
I started listening to Bad Bunny when I moved to Miami a few years ago.
It was always playing in the gym. I started to learn the songs, which started teaching me words in Spanish. Then some of the Dominican trainers at the gym and I became friends, and they started speaking Spanish with me.
It gave me a small taste of what it must be like for immigrants who don’t speak English to come to America and turn to movies, TV shows, and music to learn the language. And how quickly you can become friends with someone even when you only share a few words in common.
IMO that’s what Bad Bunny’s halftime show captured creatively.
Latin culture is special. And you don’t need to speak the language to be invited to the party, dance, and experience community & connection.
I’m glad he didn’t sing a single word in English.
It’s his party.
And I appreciate him inviting all of us, fluent or not, to be part of it.
One of the best ever.. amazing man, incredible football player, elite competitor. Congrats to truly one of the GOATs of the wide receiver position. Couldn’t happen to a better human being @LarryFitzgerald
With a week to reflect, I’m convinced this was the greatest moment in sports history.
A 2-star recruit leads the worst program ever to a national championship, beats his hometown team that wouldn’t let him walk on, and finishes it by running over the same guy who knocked him out the year before, with his mother battling MS watching from the stands.
If it was a Disney movie, you’d say it was too much.
This is one of the most important studies in sleep science.
Van Dongen et al. ran the experiment that changed how we understand chronic sleep restriction. They had subjects sleep 4h, 6h, or 8h nightly for 14 days, testing cognitive performance every 2 hours.
The 6h group’s reaction time deficits by day 14 matched subjects who had been awake for 24 hours straight. The 4h group? They performed like someone awake 48 hours.
But here’s what makes this study terrifying.
The Stanford Sleepiness Scale ratings in Panel B plateau after day 3-4. Subjects stopped feeling more tired even as their cognitive performance continued deteriorating through day 14. Your subjective experience of fatigue is a lagging indicator that eventually just… stops updating.
This explains why chronic undersleeping feels sustainable. You’ve adapted to feeling tired. Your prefrontal cortex hasn’t adapted to being impaired.
The PVT (Psychomotor Vigilance Task) in Panel A measures lapses in attention. These are the moments where you’re staring at a screen and your brain simply checks out for 500ms. Every additional day of 6h sleep adds more lapses. The curve never flattens.
Panel C and D show working memory and processing speed. Same pattern: continuous degradation with no subjective awareness.
The practical implications:
If you’re sleeping 6h and think you’re functioning fine, you’ve lost the internal calibration to know you’re not. The subjects in this study would have told you they felt “okay” while performing like they’d pulled an all-nighter.
For anyone doing cognitively demanding work, this means you cannot trust how you feel. You need to track objective markers: error rates, decision latency, problem-solving throughput.
Sleep need is biological, not negotiable. Most adults require 7-9 hours, and the research shows no population-level adaptation to chronic restriction. “I only need 6 hours” is almost always “I’ve forgotten what baseline cognition feels like.“
Do you know that a man is the only mammal who can never be 100% sure his child is his?
A woman knows the baby is hers; it came out of her. A man has to take it on Faith.
This creates a deep, evolutionary anxiety called "Paternity Uncertainty.''
It is why men are so protective over their partners. It is why female infidelity hurts men differently than male infidelity hurts women.
For a woman, cheating is a betrayal of love. For a man, cheating is a betrayal of his legacy, tricking him into spending his life and resources raising another man's DNA. It is the ultimate biological theft.
Paternity fraud should be illegal and should be punishable by the law
Here's how we will crown a national champion January 1st while saving bowl season and fixing the recruiting/portal calendar issue
From the desk of the future CFB Commissioner...
Dr. John Delony dropped the best parenting line I've heard in forever, and it came from Jack Black of all people:
"Don't try to make a happy kid happier."
Kid's already content in the backyard playing with a stick in the mud? Don't drag them to the $300 amusement park. Just grab a hose, jump in, get dirty together. That's the story they'll tell at your funeral, not the overpriced outing that left everyone fried and sugared up.
Then he hits the deeper truth: When kids arrive, your marriage isn't "over" in a bad way—it's just a different kind of awesome. You trade spontaneous afternoons for new magic: watching your middle-schooler cross the finish line, feeling huge.
Trying to drag the old freedom back in? That's what breaks people. Let the old thing go. Build something new.
This one hit me hard. Anyone else feel that shift when kids changed everything—for the better, even if it's messy?
A Christmas morning reflection…
95%
By the time your child turns 18, you've spent ~95% of the time you will ever spend with them in your lifetime.
There are specific windows, much shorter than you care to admit, during which certain people and relationships will occupy your life.
You may have only one more summer with all of your siblings. Two more trips with that old group of friends. A few more years with your grandpa. A handful of encounters with that coworker you love. One more long walk with your parents.
If you fail to appreciate these windows, they will quickly disappear.
Time Wealth is about an awareness of these windows.
But more importantly, it’s about taking action against that awareness.
It's about recognizing that you are in more control of your time than you realize.
That you can take actions to create time with the people you love most.
That you can bend these curves.
That 95% is an average—and you’ve never wanted to be average in anything your entire life.
So, show up to that recital. Plan that trip with old friends. Grab that quick coffee. Go on that walk with your parents. Have that meal with your sibling.
In the end, it's not about the journey, it's not about the destination, it's about the company. The people along the way.
Cherish the people and the rest will fall into place as it should.
Not sure if I’ve ever gotten this emotional watching a commercial before
The conversations, the memories, the music
It all broke me
Thank you for making me cry today, Chevrolet
“Part of being a real grown up in life is telling people when what they’re doing isn’t good enough. Whether that’s your kids, whether that’s someone you work with. Whatever professional realm you’re in, you have to learn that skill. The real grownup teammates are not afraid to say that in order to get the team to where it needs to go,” Tom Brady
