@karldeeter Also Ireland's population grew by about 15% which despite some obvious economies of scale can require significant investment just to stand still while also helping the tax income take. So near 30% inflation and 15% population increase eats into a lot of that.

@karldeeter Every country has experienced significant inflation in recent years. Despite Ireland's growth, it ranks 22/27 in terms of cumulative inflation from 2016-2025. House building per capita, Ireland is number 1 for past 2 years but after years of delay. Infrastructure drives me crazy.

@jasonomahony Been saying the same thing for about a year Jason after researching those stats. Ireland is successfully building at a relatively large scale recently. It needs to build a lot more and was too slow to start. Both things can be true at the same time. Now it's infrastructure.

Ireland defense for supplying roughly 90% of EU alumina exports to Russia is that the EU never sanctioned alumina.
But when it came to Israel, Ireland didn't wait for the EU.
Dublin pushed ahead with its own Occupied Territories legislation, openly challenging the EU's common trade policy and arguing that moral considerations required action.
Apparently, "we can't act without Brussels" applies to Russia, but not to Israel.
Interesting standard.
