@ytann001 @Songling_GSOE I agree that they should not be advised to choose an “easier major” regardless of race/ethnicity/gender. College athletes should be choosing a major that they are interested in just in case they don’t go pro.
All college athletes should pick a major that they are interested in as a back-up plan. Rather than focusing on only the sport, education is equally as important but not as heavily focused or encouraged. @Songling_GSOE #ucr150
@hgul001 @Songling_GSOE I agree and because they pick "easy" majors, most of the college athletes are clustered into one major. After not going pro, what if they aren't interested in the major that they were advised to pick? #ucr150
It's discouraging that there's a greater emphasis on winning games rather than education. After failing to go pro, some athletes are stuck in a major they're not interested in. #ucr150 @Songling_GSOE https://t.co/Liw7MjvS5u
@hanakristen @Songling_GSOE I agree, honestly these institutions aren't looking out for the student-athletes at all. For them, it's all about winning games and making money. Student-athletes need more freedom and rights. #ucr150
It's crazy how college athletes have obstacles if they want to continue receiving an athletic scholarship and continue their college athletic career at a different institution. These athletes are students yet they have a different set of rules to follow. #ucr150 @Songling_GSOE
@bayan_atam @Songling_GSOE I agree, NCAA does not protect its athletes but also universities aren’t providing enough insurance for these college athletes. Either way, these college athletes are in a harsh environment and when they get injured, they have to take care of themselves. #ucr150
It's sad that college students are not covered in their school's insurance for sport-related injuries. Without the money and proper treatment, students like Michael Okoye are left with medical bills and a shaky future. https://t.co/46eFdYgyac

@christyng22 @Songling_GSOE I agree that Title IX gives women athletes opportunities in higher education. It’s sad to see that Title IX allows them to receive equal benefits and opportunity but not necessarily equal dollars. #ucr150
Title IX was introduced to promote gender equity in universities/colleges. These institutions invest a lot of money to promote men's sports but what about women's sports? #ucr150 @Songling_GSOE
