The Santa Maria ran aground and was destroyed before returning to Spain.
The Pinta suffered terribly during the voyage and, as near as we can tell, never sailed again.
The Nina, however, made several voyages back until it was sunk in a storm in 1500.
Bottom line:
Exploration won't succeed unless the nations that send these missions are willing to expend both ships and lives.
Reusability means nothing unless we have the will also.

Not true.
Titan is a long ways out, but it has many advantages.
The big one is an atmosphere.
Although you'd need a sealed, insulated suit with an oxygen supply, a full fledged spacesuit is not required.
The atmosphere also protects against radiation.
And, with the proper wings, you could FLY! Not glide...fly...without an airplane or ultralight.

Oh, wait...
This is a catastrophe, but at least New Glenn managed to deploy two payloads that are still in space now...unlike Starship.
Both design philosophies have their pluses and minuses.

But many, many smart mission planners have rejected this mission profile for the reasons I explained in the video.
