"Consider the possibility of bias in your assignments." Love them pointing out that a manager's bias could keep them from getting the best out of the people they manage. #mavorg
Everyone needs to get tasks done, but it’s also important to build relationships and develop people. Here’s how leaders can learn to balance their task- and people-related needs at work. https://t.co/JJOTkb8lU1
@SethVarnerOMA We did lose a bunch of interns recently. When they graduate, they aren't necessarily given the option to stay on, so its hard to say if they left of their own volition or not. #mavorg
Anyone have issues with bosses that also want to be your friend? I don't like to cross the professional/personal line, but its hard to say "no" repeatedly without feeling like they'll resent you. #mavorg
"70% of employees report that they don’t have mastery of the skills needed to do their jobs" Goodness, do you suppose its widespread imposter syndrome or just that large of a gap in skill mastery? #mavorg
I am in full agreement that conflict can be a good thing. Unfortunately, I feel like most of the conflict at my workplace lately has been interpersonal and not productive. #mavorg
@SethVarnerOMA Our dress code shifted from 2020 to 2022. No jeans, no sneakers, and NEVER hoodies, even on the rare Friday jeans days we had to pay for. Now there really doesn't appear to be a dress code at all. What hasn't changed? That we never interact with customers. #mavorg
Video: Since taking ownership of Twitter CEO Elon Musk has laid off thousands, many tasked with maintaining crucial services. Former staff worry the site may collapse.

Announced a big re-shuffle to lessen the intense workload starting 1/1/23. Got emails from HR about needing to use your excess vacation before you lose it at year end. Got emails from supervisors about getting ahead on your work before you take time off. Irritated. #mavorg
@DebuseTrevor I think that's a great example. It can easily happen with a job as well (and has happened to most people I know at some point). You've been there so long, you don't want to risk starting over somewhere new. #mavorg
"Seek self-propulsion, not pace-setting." This is sort of fascinating. I wonder if I could send it to my manager without it being taken the wrong way..... #mavorg
There's been a lot of tension between teams at works lately. A few of the supervisors have made it VERY clear that they do not like each other and people are starting to notice. There could definitely be better communication there. #mavorg
@taylorenglish34#mavorg This was actually something people cited when they started pushing for a return to the office at my company. You never had to worry about deliveries or even repairmen scheduling when you were working from home full-time.
This was actually one of the reasons our work gave for not letting us stay full-time remote. They are still getting a lot of push-back almost a year after our "return to office" (hybrid schedule). #mavorg
@bgrooters287 Having worked for both, I can tell you there is good and bad to each. Personally, I had a lot more issues at solo businesses. Hope it goes well for you! #mavorg
My husband and I have talked a lot this week about how changing jobs gives you a better raise than staying put ever will. Even when you change jobs within the same company. Fascinating how this is common knowledge but companies don't see any need to adjust. #mavorg
“The ability to learn faster than your competitors may be the only sustainable competitive advantage.” I won't lie, anything that makes me feel good about going back to school is worth sharing. #mavorg
We think of some people as lifelong learners. But anyone can become one. To get started, focus on the benefits, not challenges, of learning a new skill. https://t.co/JxhRHThTax
@mrj2234 There was a time I couldn't have fathomed this (and I haven't done it to this day). But the number of times that an employee puts in their notice and is immediately terminated makes me much more understanding of why one might do this. #mavorg
Looking ahead to potential future disruptions is very important for organizations, but I would wager it's impossible to predict it all. Being adaptive and resilient is very important. #mavorg
They essentially announced at work this week that managers are free to poach from other teams. Its been chaos all week. This was a previously unspoken rule that the employee had to initiate the conversation if a move were to occur. #mavorg
