At a recent NRGI, @ACODE_Uganda & @CSCOUg1 event, @PaulBagabo outlined key priorities for success:

Mineral conflicts in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are driven by the country’s immense mineral wealth, including cobalt, gold, and diamonds, which attract international demand but fuel ongoing violence and exploitation. Armed groups, such as M23 and ADF, control mining areas and use the proceeds to fund their operations, deepening the cycle of conflict.

Multinational companies exacerbate the situation by profiting from these resources while often ignoring the human cost in their supply chains. Addressing the mineral conflicts in the DRC requires a coordinated effort between the government, neighbouring countries, regional organisations, international organizations, and the private sector to break the link between resource exploitation and violence.
