“Never in the history of Pakistan has any political leader been subjected to the treatment that I am currently enduring. Nawaz Sharif committed corruption worth billions and was nevertheless granted every possible comfort in prison. In contrast, never before has the innocent and apolitical spouse of a political figure been imprisoned under such inhumane conditions as those imposed upon Bushra Bibi.

I am enduring the harshest prison term in the country’s history solely for the supremacy of the Constitution and in service of my nation. The level of oppression and authoritarianism is such that even the water I have for ablution is filthy and contaminated with dirt, unfit for any human being. Books sent to me by my family have been withheld for months. Access to television and newspapers has also been suspended. I have spent countless hours re-reading the same old books, but now even those are no longer available.

All my basic human rights have been violated. Even the minimum facilities accorded to ordinary prisoners under the law and the jail manual are denied to me. Despite repeated requests, I have not been allowed to speak to my children. Political meetings have also been restricted; I am only permitted to meet certain ‘choice individuals’, while all other interactions are barred.

I am waging a battle against a 78-year-old system, and my greatest success is that despite unprecedented oppression, the public stands firmly with me.

On February 8th (2024), the people expressed their trust in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf by voting for you even in the absence of an electoral symbol. After such a clear mandate, it is the moral and political responsibility of every party member to become the voice of the people. It will be nothing short of disgraceful and condemnable if PTI leaders waste time on internal conflicts at this critical juncture. Anyone found engaging in factionalism within the party will be expelled. I am fighting for the future of our generations, and every sacrifice I make is for that cause. To create rifts within the party at this time would be a direct betrayal of my mission and vision.

The so-called government formed through Form 47 has crippled the judiciary through the 26th Constitutional Amendment. The way biased judges are now delivering blatantly unjust verdicts under these courts is visible to the entire nation. We must launch a robust campaign to liberate the judiciary, for no nation can survive, let alone progress, without judicial independence.”

UPDATE: Further accounts are emerging from the police raids on the neighbouring homes of Imran Khan’s sisters, Aleema Khan and Dr Uzma Khan.

Sakeena, their 20-year-old niece, who was arrested and later released, says more than 200 police entered the properties, broke down Dr Uzma’s bedroom door and dragged staff from their quarters.

آج کا دن 21 ستمبر ، 2022 میں میری سیاسی اور ذاتی زندگی کا ایک اہم دن تھا۔ اس روز اسلام آباد ہائی کورٹ کے بینچ نے، جس کی سربراہی چیف جسٹس اطہر من اللہ کر رہے تھے، میرے خلاف نیشنل اسپورٹس سٹی نارووال کا نیب ریفرنس کالعدم قرار دے دیا۔ عدالتی فیصلے نے ثابت کر دیا کہ جس مقدمے کو میری گرفتاری اور کردارکشی کے لیے استعمال کیا گیا، اس کی کوئی قانونی بنیاد نہیں تھی۔
یہ ریفرنس احتساب کے نام پر سیاسی انتقام کی ایک افسوس ناک مثال تھا۔ نیشنل اسپورٹس سٹی نہ کوئی ذاتی کاروبار تھا، نہ ہاؤسنگ سوسائٹی اور نہ ہی کوئی خفیہ مالی منصوبہ؛ یہ پاکستان کے نوجوانوں کے لیے کھیلوں کی عالمی معیار کی سہولتیں پیدا کرنے والا قومی منصوبہ تھا۔ نہ سرکاری خزانے کو نقصان پہنچانے کا الزام ثابت ہوا، نہ ذاتی مالی فائدے کا کوئی ثبوت سامنے آیا۔ ایک عوامی منصوبے کو محض سیاسی انتقام کی خاطر جرم بنا دیا گیا۔
مجھ پر جھوٹے الزامات لگائے گئے، میڈیا ٹرائل کیا گیا، میرے اہلِ خانہ کو ذہنی اذیت دی گئی اور میری ساکھ کو نقصان پہنچانے کی منظم کوشش ہوئی۔ مجھے اس وقت گرفتار کیا گیا جب قاتلانہ حملے میں زخمی ہونے کے بعد میرے دائیں بازو کی دوسری سرجری کو صرف دو دن گزرے تھے۔ ڈاکٹروں اور عدالت کی ہدایات کے باوجود جیل میں مطلوبہ فزیوتھراپی فراہم نہیں کی گئی، جس کے نتیجے میں میرا بازو ہمیشہ کے لیے پوری طرح سیدھا نہ ہو سکا۔
مجھے اڈیالہ جیل کے اسی سیل میں رکھا گیا جہاں آج عمران خان خود 190 ملین پاؤنڈ مقدمے میں سزا کاٹ رہے ہیں۔ وقت کا یہ فیصلہ اپنے اندر ایک گہرا سبق رکھتا ہے۔ کل جو شخص اقتدار کے زعم میں سیاسی مخالفین کے لیے جیلوں کے دروازے کھول رہا تھا، آج خود انہی دیواروں کے درمیان ہے۔ تاہم کسی انسان کی قید میرے لیے خوشی یا ذاتی تسکین کا باعث نہیں۔ میری سیاست انتقام نہیں، اصول اور انصاف کی سیاست ہے۔
لیکن یہ حقیقت بھی اپنی جگہ موجود ہے کہ اقتدار ہمیشہ قائم نہیں رہتا، جبکہ اقتدار میں کیے گئے فیصلے انسان کا پیچھا ضرور کرتے ہیں۔ جو دوسروں پر جھوٹے الزامات لگائے، ان کی پگڑیاں اچھالے، خاندانوں کو اذیت دے اور ریاستی اداروں کو ذاتی انتقام کے لیے استعمال کرے، اسے ایک نہ ایک دن اپنے اعمال کا سامنا کرنا پڑتا ہے۔ اسے مکافاتِ عمل کہیں یا تاریخ کا انصاف انسان بالآخر وہی کاٹتا ہے جو بوتا ہے۔
میں نے اپنی قید اور آزمائش کے دوران معاملہ اللہ تعالیٰ کے سپرد رکھا۔ میرا یقین تھا کہ پروپیگنڈا وقتی شور تو پیدا کر سکتا ہے، مگر ہمیشہ سچ کی جگہ نہیں لے سکتا۔ 21 ستمبر 2022 کا فیصلہ اسی یقین کی توثیق تھا۔
آج بھی میرے دل میں ذاتی انتقام کی کوئی خواہش نہیں۔ عمران خان اگر مجھ سے معافی مانگنے کا حوصلہ نہیں رکھتے تو کم از کم اپنے رب کے حضور جھکیں اور ان تمام لوگوں کے حق میں توبہ کریں جن پر جھوٹے الزامات لگائے گئے، جنہیں قید اور تضحیک کا نشانہ بنایا گیا اور جن کے اہلِ خانہ کو اذیت دی گئی۔ اللہ کی عدالت میں نہ اقتدار کام آتا ہے، نہ مقبولیت اور نہ سیاسی بیانیہ وہاں صرف نیت، عمل اور حق العباد کا حساب ہوتا ہے۔
