@claudeai users: if it feels like “thinking got worse,” part of that may be measurement drift, not just model quality. The redact-thinking-2026-02-12 header hides thinking from UI/transcripts but does not disable reasoning. Separate changes also introduced adaptive thinking and a lower default effort level, which can make sessions feel shallower unless you opt in to more effort.

What helps right now:
Set showThinkingSummaries: true in settings.json, use /effort high or /effort max, and try ULTRATHINK for one-off hard tasks. If you want to test the old behavior, compare with CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_ADAPTIVE_THINKING=1.

Last couple of days, I've been posting about Claude going rogue, ignoring my architecture, taking shortcuts, and acting like a junior dev who thinks they know better.
The comments were full of people saying: "Just write better prompts."

Meet morpheus-ai 💊 : an open-source CLI that detects lazy AI patterns and blocks them before they execute.

It currently catches 18 strict patterns, including:
🚫 "We could skip X for now" (Scope reduction)
🚫 "Option A / Option B" (Stop asking, just build it)
🚫 "Tests can be added later" (Test skipping)
🚫 "Here's a simplified version" (Simplified delivery)
