#HKR1000 From the MoodCheck app I learned that I am most stressed during Midterms. Yoga and listening music has helped to deal with stress & positively impacted my mood.Sleep can help with wellbeing.Difficulty falling asleep is common in people with low mood & high stress level.
@carolineperrHKR#HKR1000"Self-care" or maintaining Emotional Wellness is often overlooked but it is imperative.Without good emotional wellness, other wellness areas (like intellectual & interpersonal) can be difficult to maintain.Self-care activities like yoga should be part of our daily lives.
#GNDR1000S2020 Jackson Katz's Ted Talk was eye-opening! We need to stop focusing on the victim.Questioning the victim's attire/actions is not only pointless but it also sends the wrong message. Instead focus should be on the abuser and eliminating abusive behaviour.
@WhiteTash52#GNDR1000S2020 I agree with you. It was really sad to know that the police would be more active in finding the missing women if they were not Indigenou, poor women. This issue has affected the community over generations and very little has been done to improve the situation.
@afuaampaduminta#GNDR1000S2020 I agree. The problem rn is not just about encouraging women towards careers but also about changing mindset. Unfortunately, it is hard to change the mindset of adults. But children can be taught the importance of housework by both parents partaking in the chores.
#GNDR1000S2020 This week's readings made me realise that although we have been talking about gender inequality and unpaid childcare for years now, the situation has not improved much. It's imperative that Govt & companies support women and encourage men towards care work at home
@KelseyASmith99#GNDR1000S2020 I agree with you! Any form of discrimination should not be tolerated in health care systems. Salary, gender or even one's skin color does not make one person more important than another. It is really sad how medical professionals have helped to spread inequality.
#GNDR1000S2020 Reading " How Doctors Take Women's Pain Less Seriously" left me upset. It is heartbreaking that even today women face such discrimination in accessing a basic human right-healthcare. It is sad that even well educated professionals view women as hypochondriacs.
@MckaylaHogan3#HKR1000 The article is educational. In the past I have found that meditating definitely helps me to be more relaxed but learning about how meditation helps with social anxiety and overall performance was eye-awakening .I think more schools should have meditation breaks for kids.
@Jess92862911#HKR1000 The article was truly educational! Walking is not just good for our health, it is also very refreshing. I have always loved walking, running and hiking. Whenever I feel stressed out or even upset about something, I always go for a walk and it always makes me feel better.
#HKR1000 During this pandemic I think it is crucial that we take care of our psychological wellness. Recognizing when we or others need help is the first step in sustaining our well-being.The article below discusses signs of burnout and how to improve.

@FeliciaIngs#gndr1000s2020 Absolutely! It is encouraging to see diversity in media's portrayal of beauty. But, I am apprehensive about the influence that photoshopping apps & platforms like Instagram & Snapchat have on the unrealistic standards of beauty.I feel that it is a long road ahead.
#GNDR1000S2020 Killing Us Softly 4 not only explores how ads have helped to construct the unrealistic standards of beauty that is targeted towards women and dehumanize them but it also explains how this social construction of beauty has further marginalized ethnic communities.
The way the Native women have been treated so far
is unjustifiable.Their role in history was modified as per convenience and even today they & their offsprings are facing discrimination through the "Indian Act".Femisim is a NECESSITY for such marginalized groups #GNDR1000S2020
@KelseyASmith99@jon_ledrew Absolutely! Cases like the Coastal GasLink pipeline route that will run through the territory of the Wetβsuwetβen Nation in
BC show how colonialism is still alive. Furthermore, the discrimination that Native women face due to the Indian Act is simply unacceptable.

@Amy_Young2000#GNDR1000S2020 I absolutely agree ! It is very important that we have the correct representation of all communities in our literature and media. Being exposed to partial narratives at an early age can encourage prejudice. I think this further endorses systemic racism.
#GNDR1000S2020 The video "Being Black in Canada" was extremely educational.I couldn't agree more with Desmond Cole about how social media can enable awareness but real work happens in communities. It is imperative that we, the people, actively work to change systematic racism.
@RebeccaHKR1000 #HKR1000 I totally agree ! Especially during this pandemic, we are all isolated and stressed out. So, it's VERY important that we do activities for fun and to stay motivated. I feel very happy to see that collectively we are trying our best to stay positive.
#HKR1000 I am really content with most of the results except for Spiritual wellness - especially in pursuing wellness through yoga, meditation and relaxation. I think it's very important that we value relaxation as most of us lead stressful lives with work, studies & social life.
#GNDR1000S2020 I found the Ted Talk of Maysoon Zayid to be inspiring. It made me realise the connection between intersectionality and disability. The lack of positive portrayal of people with disabilities in the media is sad. They deserve to be treated as equals not inferiors.
