We have been informed that my father, Imran Khan, has lost most of the vision in his right eye, with reports indicating only 15% eyesight remains. This is the direct consequence of 922 days of solitary confinement, medical neglect (denied blood tests) and the deliberate denial of proper treatment in jail.

The responsibility lies squarely with the regime in power, the Army Chief and the puppets enabling this cruelty. This physical deterioration is happening under their orders, their watch and their responsibility. They have manipulated and warped the justice system in order to keep my father in solitary confinement.

My brother and I are still being denied visas to see our father as his health deteriorates. History will record this injustice.

We urge human rights bodies, legal institutions and democratic nations to confront this persecution and ensure those responsible face consequences.

Human Rights Council of Pakistan (HRC-Pakistan) strongly condemns the decision by Judge Afzal Majoka's court to sentence prominent human rights lawyers Advocate Iman Mazari and Advocate Hadi Ali Chattha to a total of 17 years in prison and a fine exceeding 30 million rupees in the controversial tweet case. This verdict is a dangerous link in the chain of silencing powerful voices for human rights in Pakistan.

Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha are names that have always selflessly advocated for the vulnerable sections of society. Whether it's the challenging front of enforced disappearances and recovery of missing persons, ending extrajudicial violence, or fake cases against journalists, both lawyers have struggled on every forum for the supremacy of law. Their services span from the economic rights of poor street vendors to providing transparent trials for individuals accused of blasphemy.

Imposing severe punishments merely for expressing opinions or tweeting not only violates international human rights charters but is also tantamount to an assault on the freedom of expression guaranteed under Article 19 of the Constitution of Pakistan, which is the fundamental right of freedom of speech and the foundation of democratic societies. Targeting human rights defenders in this manner is contrary to the demands of justice and fairness, and it is damaging Pakistan's image at the international level.

We demand from the higher judiciary and authorities that this decision be immediately reviewed and that politically motivated cases against human rights defenders be ensured to end. The Human Rights Council of Pakistan expresses full solidarity with the families of Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha and the lawyers' community in this difficult time.

امین الدین خان کے ریزرو سیٹس کے فیصلے کا سب سے بڑا تضاد یہی ہے کہ اس نے will of the people پر ریلائی کیا۔ ہماری عدالتی تاریخ میں ہمیشہ فسطائیت کو ویلیڈیٹ کرنے کے لیے will of the people کے نام کا ہی تماشا لگا ہے۔ 1954 میں مولوی تمیز الدین کیس، 1958 میں دوسو کیس، 1977 میں نصرت بھٹو کیس اور 2000 میں ظفر علی شاہ کیس — ان چاروں فیصلوں میں ہی کہا گیا کہ یہ will of the people ہے، اور ہر بار آمریت کو تحفظ دے کر عوامی رائے کو کچلا گیا۔ مگر آج جب عوام نے اپنا اصل will of the people عمران خان اور پی ٹی آئی کے حق میں دیا تو اسے نظرانداز کر کے منڈیٹ چھین لیا گیا۔ یہ فیصلہ نظریۂ ضرورت کی نئی قسط اور عدلیہ کے ماتھے پر بدنما داغ ہے۔

“کامن ویلتھ کی 8 فروری کے الیکشن پر جو رپورٹ لیک ہوئی ہے اس نے بھی انتخابی دھاندلی کا پول کھول دیا ہے کہ کیسے بےشرمی اور ڈھٹائی سے ہمارا مینڈیٹ چوری کیا گیا۔
کامن ویلتھ کے مطابق یہ رپورٹ پہلے ہی سرکاری سطح پر حکومت پاکستان کو دے دی گئی تھی مگر یہاں سکندر سلطان راجہ جیسے بے ضمیر لوگ ہیں جنھوں نے انتخابی چوری کی سہولت کاری سمیت اس پر پردہ ڈالنے میں بھی بھرپور کردار ادا کیا- پاکستان میں ووٹ چوری کا قانون سخت ہے اور ایسا کرنے پر آرٹیکل 6 کا نفاذ ہوتا ہے- لیکن ملک میں اس وقت عاصم لا کے سوا سب قانون ختم ہو چکے ہیں۔

یہاں پر لیاقت چٹھہ جیسے لوگ قابل تحسین ہیں جنہوں نے اپنے عہدے پر ضمیر کی آواز کو ترجیح دی۔ اس چوری کے بعد عوام کا قتل عام کیا گیا اور چھبیسویں آئینی ترمیم کی گئی۔ اس ترمیم کے خلاف بھی جن ججز نے آواز بلند کی وہ تعریف کے قابل ہیں۔

دھاندلی پر قائم حکومت کو قانونی طور پر قبول کرنے کا وقت اب ختم ہو چکا ہے۔ اسی لیے سینیٹ اور پارلیمانی کمیٹیوں سے استعفے دئیے گئے ہیں۔

اپنے ارکان پارلیمنٹ کو پیغام دینا چاہتا ہوں کہ ملک میں نافذ عاصم لاء سے بالکل نہ گھبرائیں نہ ہی جیل سے گھبرائیں۔ایک فرد واحد اپنے اقتدار کی ہوس کو پورا کرنے کی خاطر آپ کو دبانا چاہتا ہے۔ آپ جتنا ان سے ڈریں گے یہ اتنا ہی آپ کو دبائیں گے۔ آپ حق پر ہیں اور حق اور سچ انسان کو بہادر بناتا ہے، اور حق کی ہی فتح ہوتی ہے”
