I can feel my 🧠 health slipping just a bit due to the quarantine so it’s time to start my gratefulness diary back up! I’ll tweet a thing I’m grateful for everyday. Please join me (on twitter or in your own diary) if you think it’d be useful! Full thread 👇#MentalHealth
I basically checked out of twitter for my own mental health months ago. Is this place still alive? Anyway, I recently had a paper accepted so here's a short summary thread (and then I'll be checking out of twitter again 😅)
And that's it! It's a short and sweet result but strengthens our previous findings using the photometric variability which has various issues as an activity indicator. And here's the paper again if you don't want to scroll back up to the top of the thread: https://t.co/5aaZQi90US
However, our main result is that the flaring activity has a positive correlation with metallicity. I think this is the 1st time such a metallicity dependence has been demonstrated for flares and only the 2nd activity indicator that this metallicity dependence has been shown for!
I gave a talk @NewtonInstitute last week on Zeeman Doppler imaging (ZDI). I think a lot of people see ZDI as some kind of dark art. If that's you, I think I give a pretty good description of how it works in this talk (even if I do say so myself!): https://t.co/vCOcTPXfYy
Check out our new work pressenting new spectropolarimetric obs with the aim of constraining weakened magnetic braking in old solar analogs! Work led by @travis_metcalfe and involved @AdamF_Astro, @pascalou_petit, myself and many other non-tweeters https://t.co/J7B3ZfN893
