I am grateful for constructive discussions with Members of the UK Parliament on the Myanmar crisis and the military junta’s airstrike on Mrauk-U Public Hospital in Rakhine State on 10 Dec 2025, International Human Rights Day. Targeting a civilian hospital is a war crime. 33 civilians were killed, including a three-month-old infant; 76 were injured, among them pregnant women, elderly civilians, and healthcare workers. The UN Security Council and the UN Human Rights Council must act to protect civilians and ensure accountability.

‘The junta election will never be free nor fair’
Myanmar’s Ambassador to the UN Kyaw Moe Tun has told the world body that Myanmar’s military has shut down access to information, crushed independent media, expanded mass surveillance, and ruled through fear—warning that the planned election will only deepen violence across the country.
All Myanmar nationals aged 18+, or anyone with at least one Myanmar parent—inside Myanmar or abroad—are warmly encouraged to participate.

🚨🚨 Death Toll Rises to 33 in Bombing of Mrauk-U Hospital
December 11, 2025
In Arakan State, the Mrauk-U General Hospital in Mrauk-U town was brutally and inhumanely bombed by the terrorist Myanmar Air Force on the evening of December 10, 2025. As a result, at least 33 innocent civilians, including patients receiving treatment inside the hospital, were killed, and more than 68 others sustained injuries.
On December 10, 2025, at approximately 9:13 PM, the fascist terrorist junta’s Myanmar Air Force deliberately dropped two 500-pound bombs on the Arakan People’s General Hospital. Ten patients who were undergoing treatment died instantly at the scene, while an additional 23 people later succumbed to their injuries, bringing the total death toll to 33.
Moreover, more than 60 people — including patients under treatment, their caregivers, and hospital staff — suffered severe, moderate, and minor injuries.
The fascist terrorist military council deliberately targeted the hospital at a time when innocent civilians were preparing to rest for the night, launching this cowardly and malicious attack with clear intent on a facility where the public was receiving medical care.
The Myanmar Air Force under the fascist terrorist military council carried out this airstrike on the Mrauk-U People’s General Hospital in Arakan State — a civilian facility that has no connection whatsoever to any military targets — knowingly bombing a hospital where ordinary civilians were being treated.
