"In the case of the biosecurity domain, we argue that the choice is restricted to 2 institutional arrangements: transgovernmental networks (TGNs) or multilateral treaties linked to intergovernmental organization."

Choosing the right research method starts with one question:
What are you trying to understand?
- Basic research builds knowledge.
- Applied research solves real-world problems.
- Action research improves practice.
- Quantitative research measures with numbers.
- Qualitative research explores experiences and meaning.
Historical, descriptive, exploratory and correlational research each answer different kinds of questions.
The best research method isn't the most popular one it's the one that fits your research question.

Biomedical research generates more data than human scientists can analyze. A team partially funded by Stanford HAI built Biomni, a general-purpose AI agent that works alongside researchers to help close that gap: https://t.co/C034RM8qKb

The EU has finalised the Digital Omnibus on AI, introducing the first major amendments to the AI Act before key high-risk obligations were due to take effect.
The changes go well beyond delaying compliance deadlines. They reshape how the AI Act will be enforced, strengthen the role of the AI Office over general-purpose AI and very large online platforms, introduce a new ban on non-consensual AI-generated intimate imagery, ease AI literacy obligations, and simplify compliance for SMEs.
Our latest analysis examines why the EU adopted the Digital Omnibus, what changes for providers and deployers of AI systems, the new enforcement relationship between the AI Act and the Digital Services Act, industry and civil society reactions, and what comes next for Europe's AI rulebook.

AI Siphons Off Water, Electricity Supplies
The explosive growth of artificial intelligence is siphoning off water and electricity supplies used by communities around the world, while creating new sources of air pollution and climate emissions through additional power generation. Yet experts and industry representatives say the technology could also help mitigate the very crises it compounds.
According to an article by Felix Sassmannshausen:
🛜Advanced algorithms are already supporting major environmental solutions, from monitoring municipal water leakages to forecasting renewable energy generation.
🛜Efficiency and standardisation remain the biggest barriers.
