June 28th should become Tigray’s national holiday 💛❤️
Thank you TDF ✊🏽
I will forever cherish the moment I found out TDF had liberated Mekelle and most of Tigray’s territories. I hope Western Tigray and Irob will be liberated soon🙏🏽
The backdrop to the current power struggle in #Tigray, #Ethiopia is confusing to say the least. But, whatever it is, it is a shameful and tragic betrayal of the people of Tigray who have paid - and continue to pay a very heavy price. https://t.co/V4wGnDR28A via @SetitMedia
Reminder: Black Alliance for Peace is a genocidal organization who cheered on #TigrayGenocide with their friend’s @ Breakthrough News & others.
Is the ongoing genocide of 1M+ ppl ok? Do you think it’s ok to platform organizations who literally orchestrated pro genocide marches?
#Ethiopia: #Eritrean forces accused of abductions in #Tigray’s Gulomakada district; #ENDF withdraws from #Zalambessa
Residents of #Gulomakeda district in the Tigray region have reported an increase in abductions, allegedly carried out by Eritrean forces. A resident of Zalambessa, a town located on the Ethiopia-Eritrea border in Gulomakeda, said they are "living in fear and uncertainty" as kidnappings continue to rise, particularly targeting young people. “We are terrified,” the resident shared, adding that they “don’t stay outside past 6 p.m.”
Zalambessa’s mayor, Berhane Berhe, confirmed the persistence of kidnappings, attributing the issue to Eritrean troops, who have "been present in the region for the past four years." He also noted the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) had recently withdrawn from the area, further contributing to security concerns.

Eritrean forces are operating with complete impunity in Irob and other parts of #Tigray#Ethiopia - the international community must act to uphold the Pretoria Agreement that was supposed to end hostilities and ensure troop withdrawal

#Tigray: Eritrean army escalates kidnappings of civilians in Gulomekeda, says local authorities
Nebiyu Siyum, head of the peace & security office for the district, told local medias that the Eritrean army, has continued abducting civilians from areas under its occupation.
#TigrayGenocide
Child Daniel G lives in Maryam Shewto, Adwa, Tigray. He saw Eritrean army killed his mother, father, grandfather, aunt & 3 other civilian neighbors in Oct 2022. One story of 1000 stories in Tigray.
I met this child at Mariam Shewito, the burden and trauma he carries at this age is just beyond words. He still lives in the same house where Eritrean soldiers killed all of his family. He remembers how they placed the youngest child on top of his murdered mother’s body
🔴#BreakingNews
EthioForum is reporting that the #Eritrean forces have expanded their control on Zalanbessa town, NE of #Tigray and beyond. According to the report, the Eritrean forces now control the whole of Zalanbesa town and have installed a new checkpoint outside the town deeper into Tigray territory, just 37km from the city of #Adigrat, the capital of the Eastern Zone of Tigray.
The same report claims the TIRA & the Feds have been informed but no words yet. It’s expected the Feds won’t say anything but why the #TIRA is silent is very troubling.
This is a signal of the total failure of #CoHA in Pretoria , just on the eve of the 2nd year anniversary of the signing of the agreement.
The Federal govt of Ethiopia has shown no willingness to remove the Eritrean forces, protect the civilians and international borders as per CoHA and the constitution of the country.
The IC must press the Ethiopian govt to uphold the Pretoria before it’s too late.

#Ethiopia: #Tigray interim president warns against ‘sole focus’ on DDR, calls for comprehensive peace deal implementation
Getachew Reda, President of the Tigray Interim Administration, said it is “irresponsible” to focus solely on the Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR) of former Tigray combatants into society. During a meeting in #Mekelle with Alexis Lamek, the #French Ambassador to Ethiopia, Getachew stressed that DDR "should be carried out in accordance with the implementation of the Pretoria Peace agreement."
Getachew also pointed out issues in Western Tigray, stating that "no effort has been made to remove armed groups," despite this being the Federal Government's responsibility. Additionally, he noted that displaced people from Western Tigray "have not yet returned" to their homes.

Tigrayan leaders are competing of who evades justice for the victims of a genocide the best, as if erasure of a genocide subjects them the highest prizes!
When our govt showed no interest in pushing for avenues of justice, their nonchalant approach towards the end of the ICHREE’s mandate, when collecting or assisting with data collection was not a priority - they showed you where they stood in seeking justice for #TigrayGenocide
Debretsion needs to publicly apologize for what he said recently. Downplaying the violence of our (including his) enemies only because he thinks that fingers are pointing at him is treacherous. Facilitating the scraping of violence instead of asking for justice 1/2
I'm beyond grateful & thrilled to share that our film, Unholy, has won another award at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival!
Thank God, @tinffestival, @WainnieT@yaredinho_r9 & all who believed in this project and helped.

#Ethiopia: #TPLF Leadership Rift: Factional infighting threatens #Tigray’s fragile peace, post-war recovery
The Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) faces a deepening internal power struggle between two factions—one led by chairperson Debretsion Gebremichael and the other by Getachew Reda, president of the Tigray interim administration. The split threatens to destabilize the region and derail efforts at post-war recovery, following the Pretoria Peace Agreement in 2022.
Despite ongoing talks, the rift has worsened in recent months. "Failure to reach a consensus will inevitably lead the people of Tigray into a catastrophic situation," warned a #Mekelle resident. The infighting has crippled essential services and deepened the humanitarian crisis, which still affects nearly one million displaced persons.
Scholars like Gebremedhin Yalew from Mekelle University argue the conflict may "further aggravate the region’s economic, social, and political crises." Meanwhile, both factions accuse each other of violating party rules, with Getachew’s group claiming majority support in the party’s central committee.

Murder of Heaven Awot in #Ethiopia exposes #TikTok's content moderation shortcomings
The brutal rape and murder of a seven-year-old Heaven Awot in #Bahir_Dar, Ethiopia, has sparked widespread outrage and exposed TikTok's content moderation challenges. After the victim's mother shared her story on YouTube, the hashtag #JusticeforHeaven gained millions of views on TikTok, with users demanding justice and criticizing the perpetrator's attempt to appeal his 25-year sentence.
However, the situation took a dark turn when a U.S.-based TikTok user known as "Mota Keraniyo" posted inflammatory videos attacking the victim and her mother. Despite users' efforts to report his content, TikTok's response was only partially effective. Mota continued to reach his 420,900 followers, even advocating for violence against the perpetrator and those associated with him.
Other figures, such as Bethlehem Dagnachew, a former singer living in Switzerland, also contributed to spreading misinformation and conspiracy theories. Bethlehem later retracted her claims due to public pressure. In #Addis_Abeba, another TikTok user who denied the crime's authenticity was physically confronted by locals and forced to apologize.
The incident highlighted TikTok's struggle to moderate content in African languages. AI-generated videos spreading misinformation proliferated across the platform, violating TikTok's policies without being removed. Despite years of efforts to address this problem, such content has become more pervasive, posing significant challenges to content moderation and platform accountability in the region.
