@WestCoastCmdre @RoyalCanNavy @MARPAC_FMARP @Lookout_news@CDRmagazine@navalassn The problem with these barges is the absence of shelter and protection for the operating crew, let alone passengers.
@CO_R_Nfld_R @5CdnDiv_5DivCA Well done Private Mason! Best wishes on your assignment. You are a great ambassador for the Regiment from my old battalion!
@CO_RNfldR Congratulations LCol Hatfield on taking command of my old unit, 2RNfldR as well as 1st Bn. Best wishes to you for a successful tour. Regards, Brian Wentzell, Colonel (Ret'd)
@RLitwiller My Uncle Walter Keys was a crewman on the Lord Strathcona, at Bell Island. As she was at anchor, the crew wisely abandoned ship. There were no casualties although she sank quickly. He returned to Sydney, signed up again but missed the sailing. That ship was lost without trace.
@RLitwiller My late Uncle Walter Keyes was the helmsman on the SS Stargard on that fateful day. The torpedo blast blew him overboard. He was picked up by one of the RCN corvettes. He went back to sea again. See my comment about the torpedoing of the SS Lord Strathcona at Bell Island, NF.
@DavePerryCGAI@garethdmm Given the ages of the CMS 330 ships, does it make sense to rebuild some of them for the Aegis sustem and the appropriate missiles?
