@dunnesstores PLEASE REMOVE THESE SPANISH BLUEBELLS FROM YOUR SHELVES. If these are planted here, they can hybridise with the native Irish ones and they will LOSE THEIR SCENT. WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?!
@dunnesstores saw these for sale in local store today. Spanish bluebell is a third schedule invasive species and it's sale and distribution is illegal under Reg 50 of the European Birds and Habitats Regs. They need to be removed from all your stores. @npwsBioData @BSBI_Ireland

@noonan_malcolm@DeptHousingIRL@DarraghOBrienTD Minister if you respect them so much please pay conservation rangers a wage that reflects their skill and dedication. Their current wage is a disgrace and many are struggling, especially with the cost of living crisis.
Greenway destruction of the River Inny in Ballymahon by @longfordcoco this week. No Appropriate Assessment. No ecological assessment. Pathway for significant effects to Lough Ree SAC/SPA. Otter habitats and water quality directly affected. Biosecurity issues. Biodiversity loss.

The Irish for hope is dóchas.
There are also reports that they release most of the wild animal at one location, the Dunsany Estate. Flooding on area with lots of wildlife is not best practice. It can have negative results for animals currently living there and the released animals
https://t.co/6B5p03a3u5 concerning reports by a former volunteer at wildlife hospital run by WRI. There is currently a campaign by them to raise 3 mil € for a new hospital. @Niall_Sargent@Irishwildlife
They currently get funding I believe from @npwsBioData and @agriculture_ie The state needs to better regulate the animal rehab sector particularly when we talk about orgs that have protected wild species. @noonan_malcolm @npwsBioData @Irishwildlife@Niall_Sargent
@hqmulligan@IrishRainforest @npwsBioData @RTECountryWide@Groundwork9 Yes great they are clearing the rhodo but they are also cutting branches of native trees overhanging the water. It's obvious from the video in foreground.
Much of the flooding along rivers in Ireland (like the Barrow) has been caused by dredging - not solved by it. We need to #SlowTheFlow, use #NatureBasedSolutions, and restore river corridor #Biodiversity. This is the River Barrow & River Nore SAC. https://t.co/qHHZI8wf0E
All of us at BirdWatch Ireland are so sad to learn of Frank King's passing. He did so much for conservation and to foster a love of wildlife, and he was the backbone of our Kerry Branch. He leaves an enormous legacy, especially in his beloved Kerry. May he rest in peace.
Seagulls. You don't like them, I don't like them.
And now a constituent has contacted me with a view to trying to reduce their number in an area.
Has anyone seen something that councils can actually do to reduce their presence or peskiness?
