3 judges with the International Criminal Court filed a lawsuit in a US federal court against Trump and his administration, challenging the sanctions against them and calling it a "financial death penalty."
The judges bringing the lawsuit are:
- Kimberly Prost (Canada)
- Solomy Balungi Bossa (Uganda)
- Reine Adelaide Sophie Alapini-Gansou (Benin)
Trump placed sanctions on the judges over their judicial decisions regarding investigations into war crimes by Israel and the US.
The judges argue that the sanctions are extrajudicial measures meant to punish and coerce them. They say the restrictions cut them off from banking, online platforms, travel booking, and sometimes health insurance.
This should be much bigger news.
What a journey it was… 💙

I back to work today; I forgot my pass, so I locked my bike outside Cannon Street station. Left work at 6pm to find just the cut lock and no bike, resigned to never seeing my trusty stead again asked the station if they have cameras.
A guy appeared, waving at me, asked me to put the code into my cut lock. He replied, 'I have your bike' with a smile I will never forget!! His name is Abdul Muneeb, and he works for South Eastern Railways; he was on a break and saw a guy bolt cut the lock and challenged him to give it back; he then took it inside and waited 4 hours after his shift finished to personally make sure I got my bike back. The world needs more Abdul's; he is a man's legend and a credit to his employer.

Part of the fascination with Michel Kuka Mboladinga's tribute to Patrice Lumumba, Congo's first prime minister after gaining independence from Belgium, comes from the symbolism. The other part comes from the simple question on everyone's minds: How does one stay still with their arm raised for so long? https://t.co/fXXVVgr0dq

My thanks to @_AfricanUnion Chairperson, President of #Burundi@GeneralNeva, for convening a high-level meeting of Heads of State and Government on the #Ebola Bundibugyo outbreak response, which mobilised $910 million in pledges.
Here are the seven priorities that came out of the Summit:
1. The response must be African-led, with the affected countries in the driver’s seat, supported by partners based on the principle of one plan, one budget, one team.
2. The Summit has endorsed the continued collaboration between @WHO and @AfricaCDC, under the joint Incident Management Support Team and the Joint Continental Preparedness and Response Plan.
3. While we invest in fighting Ebola, we must invest in strengthening essential health systems and services, and in addressing the wider humanitarian emergency in Ituri, #DRC.
4. We continue to call for countries that have imposed blanket travel restrictions to lift them.
5. We must continue building national and regional capacity to produce vaccines, therapeutics and other medical products.
6. We ask the armed groups to agree to a ceasefire until the outbreak is over. This Summit has called for the urgent establishment of humanitarian access corridors to ensure safe access for authorities and partners to North Kivu, South Kivu and other high-risk areas.
7. As we work to stop this outbreak, we must start work now to prevent the next one, by addressing the root causes.
