@infopyles A moment when I realized that little stuff that ought not matter at all to me still gets to me. What could I have been thinking on instead - and maybe creating - had I not let triviality commandeer my attention?
@SpeakerJohnson sure it is - you guys have been saying this for 30+ years - and we're still here, well sustained. The debt could go to a quadrillion dollars, not overnight, but over time, and nothing would change. Federal dollars = fairy dust. I wish my money was like that.
@infopyles I'm about half-way through, and I can say this is a very practical and readable book. Even if you're an experienced meditator, as I am, you're bound to find some interesting things to think about - and you'll enjoy Denise's story.
@EugeneDaniels2 I remember that President Obama didn't include FoxNews in a press briefing. A lot of news outlets that didn't like FoxNews stood up for them just the same, saying they would not be in the press briefing unless FoxNews was allowed to do its job. Crickets now.
@infopyles Sometimes ones mind is so turbulent, that just breathing, without anything more, can be incredibly calming.
Just breathe...
Just breat...
Just bre...

Ahhhh... ๐ค
@infopyles I never related "taking a break" to musical structure. This opens a different way of thinking for me, which doesn't happen every day. Thanks, Denise. ๐ค
@infopyles I've read this many times over the years and love it each time I do. Whether it was a part of a real test or just born of someone's imagination (the "answer" certainly was born of someone's imagination), it's just plain brilliant and fun.
@engineers_feed Since you offered #4, it means thought is needed, Otherwise it would be #3. So...
#4 - more info needed... is there an updraft for one of the balls? Is one of the balls filled with helium? Are they both being dropped, or is one being thrown?
@OpenAI Beta is showing in my Settings, with Browse the Web as an option. I enabled it. ChatGPT insists it cannot browse the web. Apparently the right 1s and 0s don't know what the left 1s and 0s are doing.
OK - so Denise's Substack post was not included - just a link to Substack's homepage.
So I guess freedom of speech is NOT really alive on Twitter after all.
I've read that Twitter is now a free speech haven. I don't believe it. Those who control social media companies (smc) believe in freedom of speech as long as it aligns with their values. I just read that mentioning another smc will be dinged some how. So this is a test: substack
So - how about embedding something from substack. Something about mindfulness from a friend ought to be neutral enough, yet also be a test of the system.

@neiltyson One would hope that 100 years from now there are no more marginalized people. I'd like to think that we're not on an asymptote. But given human nature, we probably are.
@KccClaudia Your account is still here... did you change the security settings?
Pro: it makes it possible for constituents to reach you in an informal way.
Con: We live in a hyperpolarized society. We've seemingly lost the art of polite conversation. So yeah - you have to deal with that.
@sama@elonmusk I would pay a reasonable monthly fee for unlimited chats. Having to watch the meter would make this far less enjoyable and worthwhile. I ask a lot of throwaway questions that eventually lead to good ones. Am I the only one experiencing this?
