Russian information operations are often misunderstood as simply "pro-Russia propaganda".

Modern Kremlin-linked influence campaigns are usually less about persuading people to support Russia directly, and more about weakening social cohesion inside rival societies.

The objective is fragmentation:
• reduce trust in institutions
• increase hostility between and within groups
• amplify cynicism
• exhaust democratic consensus
• and turn political disagreement into identity warfare

Importantly, these operations rarely invent divisions from nothing.
They exploit fractures that already exist.

For Estonia, freedom came not in 1945, but in 1991.
Today marks the end of World War II in Europe. We honor the millions who sacrificed their lives to defeat Nazism and remember the immense suffering caused by both totalitarian regimes that devastated the continent.

But for Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, and much of Eastern Europe, May 1945 did not bring freedom. It marked the continuation of Soviet occupation, repression, deportations, censorship, and the destruction of national sovereignty for decades to come.

Remembering history truthfully is not revisionism. Erasing occupation and calling it liberation is.

Today, the Kremlin continues to weaponize WWII history to justify imperialism and aggression, especially against Ukraine, while ignoring the crimes committed under Soviet occupation.

MAGA voters on Ukraine:

*62% support sending weapons to Ukraine (compared with just 53 percent of non-MAGA Republicans) — a 15-point increase since 2024

*78% support selling American-made weapons to European allies, who would then provide them to Ukraine — the policy Trump has implemented.

*61% support “sending long-range cruise missiles, like Tomahawks, to Ukraine, which would give [Ukraine] the ability to strike deep inside Russian territory”

*74% see Russia as an enemy, while 73% consider Ukraine an ally.

*61% don’t trust Russia to abide by the terms of any peace deal.

*63% back “providing Ukraine with a collective defense commitment, which would obligate the U.S. and European allies to respond with military force if Ukraine is attacked again, like the U.S. commitment to NATO members.”

*73% support the creation of an “international force to police a demilitarized zone between Ukraine and Russia” that would “consist of European troops on the ground, backed by U.S. air power.”

The anti-Ukraine right is completely out of step with the MAGA movement.
