Teachers should always utilize literacy strategies such as sourcing, contextualizing, close reading and corroborating while reading and teaching students to read any historical text. One should investigate using these strategies when reading from online sources.#4011SS

I had not seen a hair wreath before. Women would make these to send to loved ones over seas in order to feel like they still had a piece of easy other. Wow! The detail was amazing! #HCCFieldStudent

The Dustbowl can be experienced inside this house. Farming methods used called dry land farming led to the Dustbowl when serious drought came in 1930s. The kids really get a feel for what it may have been like. #HCCFieldStudent

Homestead Act, 1862 started as 160 acres and later grew to 640 acres. To claim the land you had to build structures, raise livestock and grow crops over several years. #HCCFieldStudent
