#hccfieldstudent Dust Bowl - In the 1930s, towns in Southeast Colorado offered free land to anyone for 5 years of farming and improving the land. Families arrived expecting lush soil and plentiful groundwater, but arrived to drought and over-plowed the land, worsening conditions.

In Destination Colorado, you can sit a real Model-T and watch the video. You feel like your actually sitting in the car, going through a field when a storm starts to hit. Very neat experience and change in perspective! #HCCFieldStudent

I got to experience the immersive theater in the Dust Bowl exhibit. It truly made me feel like I was there and at the end my mind was playing tricks on me because I felt like I was breathing in dust. #HCCFieldStudent

I never would have thought that the students of Keota would have experienced school in similar ways as I did! They had to read so many books, just like our students do today! #HCCfieldstudent

After experiencing Black Sunday for myself, I am much more grateful for all the brave men and women of Colorado who stuck through the horrors of the Dust Bowl. We wouldn't be the same wonderful Colorado without them. #HCCfieldstudent
