NHMRC Investigator Grants out today.
A devastating day for many. I have already received messages from some of the best researchers I know who have missed out.
The senior levels had a cutoff of 5.93 (females), 6.2 (males) - according to my sources.
The impact will be wide spread.
The damage being done at the moment to the sector is totally unacceptable. We need to do a lot more to support our research community.
"It will included Muslim candidates from Western Sydney, it will be a disaster". As a Muslim who grew up in Western Sydney I find this comment from someone who is running for PM an absolute disgrace. Bigotry at its finest. Fueling Islamophobia from the very top.
Imagine a world where a PhD position meant being treated as staff, with a wage of upto AUD$80,000, good health insurance, retirement benefits, sick + annual leave...
Ohhh wait, you don't need to imagine. It exists. In Germany.
