Since this is the last day of #firepreventionweek we wanted to share where this all started. The video link talks about the Chicago Fire of 1871 & the fire safety lessons learned. As a result of this we now have a month dedicated to #firesafety. Be safe!

If you hear your fire safety devices alerting you, get out immediately. Once you are out, stay out, & call 911. Have an escape plan & practice your plan. You should test your detectors once a month and that would be a good opportunity to practice. #FirePreventionWeek #FireSafety

Are you looking for #FirePreventionWeek material? We have activities and information for children and different age groups. We also have material for adults and parents so they can be informed too! Visit https://t.co/8hCg6fGePi to view this year's resources. Be safe! #FireSafety

We can learn a few things from Bill! The more we learn & pass along to others during #FirePreventionWeek, the safer our communities. Kids are not the only ones who need reminders about fire safety. It is usually the kids teaching parents reminders they learn. Pay attention! @NFPA

[Bedford County Fire & Rescue @BedfordCountyFD]

Know what the different sounds fire safety equipment make & why. Learning sounds & teaching children what they mean is important so they know how to respond. Replace batteries in smoke detectors every 6 months & test every month. Working detectors save lives! #FirePreventionWeek

[Bedford County Fire & Rescue @BedfordCountyFD]

Even though there is a #facebookoutage, we can still learn about fire safety! Have an escape #plan and practice it with your family. Know two ways out, in case one is blocked. Discuss your meeting place and pick one safe location that everyone will end up. #FirePreventionWeek

20 years ago we faced one of our darkest hours as a nation and we lost a lot. But we also grew and became more united in the days after. We must never forget the loss or sacrifice. We must always push forward, while honoring the past. #NeverForget
