Every file spent on a forced conscript is a file not spent on a genuine IRGC operative. Clear guidelines wouldn't just be fairer, they'd make Canada safer by focusing resources where they belong. #ConscriptsAreNotMembers
Dear Minister Anand, your post rightly highlights the importance of protecting national security, confronting the Iranian regime’s hostile activities, and holding those responsible for threatening Canadians accountable.
But an equally important question remains: Are we directing our resources at the right targets?
Why are former conscripts, many of whom fled the very regime Canada is standing against, facing consequences for compulsory conscription? In contrast, Iranian regime operatives continue to threaten and intimidate dissidents on Canadian soil.
Many of these former conscripts and their families have actively opposed the regime from Canada. Some face threats from the very people Canada seeks to hold accountable. Yet these families now fear being sent to the country they fled.
We must pursue genuine threats, protect Canadians from foreign interference, and ensure that innocent families are not treated as perpetrators simply because they were forced to complete conscription many years ago.
Minister, if our goal is to protect Canadians from the Iranian regime, shouldn't we be protecting the people who fled it and are now helping expose its threats?

Happy Thanksgiving @AliEhsassi,
You said the IRGC designation would not target innocent forced conscripts.
Today, many Iranians with mandatory conscription records are being treated as if they were IRGC members. That is not what was promised.
You have told affected people that you support them. We now need action, not reassurance.
Please raise this directly with the Ministers of Immigration and Public Safety and push for clear guidance distinguishing forced conscripts from genuine IRGC members.

@AliEhsassi Happy thanksgiving @AliEhsassi thank you for your support of innocent former conscripts. Please keep advocating and push for bill c-350 presented by @GarnettGenuis. The solution is available. Please keep your promise. @LenaMetlegeDiab
Happy Thanksgiving, @AliEhsassi 🍁
For many Iranian families in your riding and across Canada, this holiday is filled with fear. Former Iranian conscripts are receiving refusals because of forced service they never chose.
Their Canadian children are spending Thanksgiving worried about losing their fathers or being sent to live under the regime their parents fled.
As Iranian representative, you can make a difference. Please push for clear guidelines and fair, individual assessments for former conscripts.

Happy Thanksgiving, @AliEhsassi
While many families gather around the table, many families affected by forced conscription are spending this holiday in fear. Former conscripts receiving refusals for a conscription they never chose, and their children growing up afraid of losing their fathers or being sent to live under the regime their parents fled.
You said the IRGC designation would not target innocent forced conscripts, and you've told affected families you support them. But today, men with mandatory conscription records are still being treated as IRGC members. That is not what was promised — and reassurance is no longer enough.
Please raise this directly with the Ministers of Immigration and Public Safety, and push for clear, written guidelines that distinguish forced conscripts from genuine IRGC members — with fair, individual assessments for every case. #ConscriptsAreNotMembers
Every day without clear guidelines, another family waits in fear for a letter that could tear them apart over something that happened thirty years ago. #ConscriptsAreNotMembers
In Iran, without finishing compulsory service, you can't open a bank account, get a driver's license, or go to university. It's required just to live a normal life. Treating forced service like a choice makes zero sense.

These men and their families fled the regime, and many of them speak openly against it — punishing them in the name of being tough on that same regime makes no sense at all. #ConscriptsAreNotMembers
