@Biggiethelad1 That's a valid position. I also don't believe the salary is justified for those with special interest jobs etc, and many MPs don't work as hard as others. Would you be willing to privately discuss this position as interested to learn more about your view?

@JamesBalliol Fully independent, no. Should there be stronger safeguards in place, yes. However is it a vast improvement also yes, and previously mps had voted *against* their own pay rises because they were worried about the backlash

@JamesBalliol Whilst I agree it's a lot of money, I'm okay with it. The pay recommendations are via an independent committee and whilst it's a lot, normalise it by hours worked etc and it looks a lot less attractive, especially more senior positions

@IronEconomist I agree with 1 and 2. 3 I'd use a land value tax instead of property mv tax to incentivised building of about 1% PA, and not exempt rental income. VAT needs a huge simplification, don't think all exemptions should be removed and registration threshold lowered

@TerraOrBust The second point was more confused and called for the removal of human rights law. Not just leave the ECHR etc but scrap all human rights law. I want to see why people want to scrap the right to a fair trial (6), right to private life (8) etc

@TerraOrBust There are two tenenyts to his letter, of which both would be awful 1-remove the central banks independence. Sounds great (more accountable) but it reduces performance due to political pressure. This leads to lower inflation and lower borrowing costs for government (1/2)
