Proud to share our protocol for cultivating human #GutMicrobiota ex vivo! Special thanks to Janina Zünd for her key contribution! We've streamlined the cultivation process for maximum flexibility and throughput while ensuring high reproducibility (1/3) https://t.co/8IdrhY9zjQ
@Ella_Maru Thanks, Ella! I doubt the sensitive taxa can serve as biomarkers when considered individually. For example, L. eligens is present in ~3/4 of human guts, and R. gnavus includes both sensitive and resistant strains. It might be different when looking at combinations
We provide a tolerance profile of gut microbes to oxidative stress and reveal previously overlooked sensitive taxa: L. eligens and F. saccharivorans https://t.co/9VxxLaEObf
Interestingly, we previously showed that L. eligens is an important contributor to gut ILA. Taken together, this could explain the reduction of IPA in diseases associated with gut inflammation

🚨Just published in @NatureAging!
🧬 We discovered that a gut #microbiota-derived metabolite, phenylacetic acid (PAA), accumulates with age and triggers endothelial #senescence, a key driver of cardiovascular #aging.

We identified new gut bacteria producing ILA and IPA: Lachnospira eligens and Enterocloster aldenensis. 🙌
We also highlight the importance of cross-feeding and dietary fibers.
Huge thanks Janina and to co-authors

A study on early life traumatic stress in mice suggest that changes in the fecal microbial community induced by early life stress can be perpetuated from an exposed parent to the offspring across two generations.
