"Large organizations cannot be versatile. A large organization is effective through its mass rather than through its agility. Fleas can jump many times their own height, but not elephants."
@AlgomaticTrade Daily TF works but is pair-specific: short bias on several USD crosses, both directions on USDCHF. Stronger shorting JPY via the crosses. Mean reversion also shows solid effects on many pairs.
Fun fact: we are algorithmic trading team. Everything we do is based on data.
And still, when the market goes our way, we stay quiet so we don’t jinx it.
Very scientific.
Every time I look at Sersan's Darwinex track record I am just in awe (SYO).
293% in 9 years while only having a drawdown of 13%. Beating the S&P 500 on an absolute and risk-adjusted basis... I've never seen anything like it.
I’d genuinely love to understand how he thinks about system development, portfolio construction and risk. Unfortunately, his educational material and mentorship is only available in Spanish.
Don't register a company with a 50:50 shareholding structure. If you do, make sure you have a shareholders' agreement that clearly outlines what will happen in the event of a dispute.
Include a shotgun clause that states:
"In case of a major dispute, I'll buy your shares at Ksh. X per share, but if you don't want to sell, then you must buy my shares at the same price."
A company without a shareholders' agreement will eventually fall when a dispute arises between shareholders.Don't register a company in a cyber cafe.
Hot take: Parameter stability is overrated as evidence of robustness.
It is a necessary condition for me, but also the bare minimum. A robust strategy should perform well across a broad parameter region but a broad parameter region alone tells me almost nothing about whether the strategy is truly robust.
Every strategy I have developed that later failed OOS still had a very stable and profitable parameter region IS. In other words, parameter stability produced plenty of false positives in my development process.
A smooth parameter surface can easily be the result of noise or selection bias. It is a test a strategy must pass but passing it does not give me much additional confidence.
Sequential walk-forward performance and most importantly, performance on a final untouched OOS period remain my strongest validation metrics.
