ಶ್ರೀ ಎಸ್.ಎಲ್. ಭೈರಪ್ಪ ಅವರ ನಿಧನದೊಂದಿಗೆ, ನಮ್ಮ ಆತ್ಮಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯನ್ನು ಕದಲಿಸಿದ ಮತ್ತು ಭಾರತದ ಆತ್ಮವನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟಿದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಧೀಮಂತ ವ್ಯಕಿತ್ವವನ್ನು ನಾವು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ನಿರ್ಭೀತ ಮತ್ತು ಕಾಲಾತೀತ ಚಿಂತಕರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅವರು, ತಮ್ಮ ಚಿಂತನಶೀಲ ಕೃತಿಗಳಿಂದ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಶ್ರೀಮಂತಗೊಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರ ಬರಹಗಳು ಪೀಳಿಗೆಗಳನ್ನು ಚಿಂತಿಸಲು, ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಾಜದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಆಳವಾಗಿ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸಿದವು.

ನಮ್ಮ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅವರ ಅಚಲವಾದ ಉತ್ಸಾಹವು ಮುಂದಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಜನರನ್ನು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸುತ್ತಲೇ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ದುಃಖದ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಮತ್ತು ಅಭಿಮಾನಿಗಳಿಗೆ ನನ್ನ ಸಂತಾಪಗಳು. ಓಂ ಶಾಂತಿ.

ಭೈರಪ್ಪನವರ ಆತ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ ಶಾಂತಿ ಸಿಗಲಿ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.

ತಮ್ಮ‌ ಆಪ್ತವೆನಿಸುವ ಬರಹ ಶೈಲಿಯಿಂದಾಗಿ ಅಪಾರ ಓದುಗರನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದ ಭೈರಪ್ಪನವರ ನಿಧನದಿಂದ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯಲೋಕ ಬಡವಾಗಿದೆ.
ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬವರ್ಗ ಮತ್ತು ಓದುಗ ಬಳಗಕ್ಕೆ ನನ್ನ ಸಂತಾಪಗಳು.

Words fail me miserably in expressing the deep sense of irreparable loss & grief that the sad news of the passing away of one of the greatest litterateurs of our times, Shri SL Bhyrappa engulfs me with. A doyen & a master storyteller with so many classics to his credit --from Tantu, Mandra, Bhitthi, Vamshavriksha, to Parva, Aavarana and many more that I grew up reading & idolizing; he was a class apart; actively involved in literary service , giving talks, attending literary conclaves even at the ripe age of 94.

I was particularly fortunate to have recieved his guidance, affection and blessings on numerous occasions. My books saw light of day in Kannada only because of him. Right from coming all the way to Mysuru just to launch my books or read those thick volumes to write a foreword & give his invaluable feedback, Bhyrappa Sir was a guru, mentor & a loving grandfather of sorts. Memories of our numerous meetings come gushing in my mind, a few captured in pics below.

Such a loss to the world of indian literature, especially Kannada, and a huge one for me personally. May his soul find sadgati...Om Shanti 🙏
