🌳 Sustaining forests, securing the future 🌳
Check out this blog post from SPI’s @BiancaCecato, introducing new research on how adopting #Disclosures could boost the #Forestry sector’s economic and environmental resilience.

To halt and reverse #Biodiversity loss, Canada must protect the right areas, for the right reasons, in the right ways.
In a new blog post, SPI’s @BiancaCecato explains why Canada’s “30x30” goal must be more than just a numbers game.

I just sat through a needlessly harsh seminar. If we can all remind ourselves that the tongue is like a sharp knife, it can kill without drawing blood, perhaps we can show a bit more compassion in seminars.

I will be speaking (remotely) at the @IFSAUBC climate change conference on April 18th, which I now realize is EXACTLY ONE YEAR after my PhD defense at UBC
This post by @FoodProfessor claims that the Trudeau Government purposely built the @ClimateInstit and @SP_Inst as part of its "lobbying machine" and that they are "mandated to advocate blindly" for the carbon tax.
This is a baseless claim.

Next up, Erin Litzow explores the impacts of environmental regulation on neighbouring countries. DID analysis shows that tightening US regulation has moved lead-acid battery recycling to Mexico, leading to worse cognitive outcomes for Mexican children. @Oxford_CSAE#OxCSAE2024
2. A new paper by @elitzow, @BiancaCecato, @marome1 & @TatianaZarate finds US lead regulation reduced test scores for kids near recyclers in Mexico:

Yesterday I presented my joint work with Frederik Noack and @pbaylis at @weai_org In Portland, OR. Our paper looks at how migration can offset losses in consumption caused by weather and climate shocks. I also have been drinking a ridiculous amount of amazing Portland coffee!
Happy to have presented my PhD research at #AERE2022 (@AereOrg) in Miami last week, and at the CREEA early career workshop in Environmental and Resource Economics today in Ottawa. Also very grateful to have won the best paper prize at the CREEA workshop!
Today, I presented at #AERE2022 my research showing that non-linearities and behavioral responses are key to understand the effects of air pollution on crime. It was awesome to share this experience with my friends @raamadhok@BiancaCecato! All thanks to @AereOrg
