目前NIH scale 是$55k. 20% increase表示會直接變成$66k, 幾乎就是Stanford的數字．之後還有每年7.2%增加．這大幅提高了去居住相對便宜的UC作博後的吸引力．

也另一方面道出PI的悲哀：實驗室預算高低取決於NIH, 人員支出的金額取決於學校，PI只能在有限資源中做最大化應用，卻往往被當系統中的代罪羔羊。
現實是PI(除非是學校管理階層)無法自由增加或減少博後和學生的薪資。

這寫出了美國(尤其是私立大學)的一大問題，博士生加上學費後，總花費會和博士後類似。
所以除非學生素質出類拔萃，在單位支出的研究產出上，學生大多低於博士後。

這是本週學術界最大的事件．UC工會要求博士生薪水$54k+,博後薪水$70k+. 在加州大城市拿NIH scale生活的確是很辛苦．加州的大學中目前給博後最高的應該是史丹佛的$68k. 所有UC所在城市應該都沒Palo Alto生活貴，估計最後會協商出一個數字．
