@RaghuBhaskaran@RadishHarmers Nationalism is lame. The more the world is nationalistic, the more lame the world will be. India is a big part of the world.
@NateSilver538 "I know America is wrong but it's kinda funny how mad the victim is" is a very unoriginal sentiment these days. Americans are constantly justifying themselves with this exact logic.
@GOrwell2020@jp_malone@sboucher@mattyglesias So you wouldn't abandon classic liberalism except that half your country (the political opposition!) hates your country. So you have to abandon universal rights to save your nation from your political enemies.
Right.
@Sean_Speer This is a good point except the use of the word "normie" ruins it. The people you are condescending to should not respect you, right? Your point about culture becomes less valid when you have to act superior.
@THEunrealSC@ggreenwald Is this a smart idea tho? Do you normally think that a person with 100x your wealth should be allowed 100x more corruption?
Or maybe a relative framework is not smart?
@bendreyfuss America is being unreasonable to Canada. You can be ignorant of that but Canadians are not ignorant about it. You think it doesn't matter that you are being a bully but we will show you that it does matter because you don't really care, but we do.
@JacquesVieau@WatcherUpNorth@NHLRumourReport How about them? Millions of Americans whining about a grievance Trump told them to have but hasn't ever affected your life because Canada doesn't "take advantage" of America in any significant way.
@UpslopeCapital@greentardscycle You should measure their integrity and skill against the challenge of building and displacing commodities and finance exchanges. Trading volumes right now do not represent success. The revelation that the volumes are incentivized doesn't represent failure either then.
@UpslopeCapital@greentardscycle We're invested in potential sales. Sales ratios are implicit in a future valuation.
The company hasn't pitched to me that I should invest based on current or near-term sales. They've only downplayed the meaning of new/near-term revenues. It's a long play for market share.
@cato_porci16524@ripplebrain Historically, there has been a fair bit of rejection of taxation but that is usually met with violence by the lord of the land. Sometimes the revolutionaries win and seize power and impose their own taxes. Never does someone seize power and not charge taxes.
@cato_porci16524@ripplebrain Taxation ALWAYS happens. You can say it is contingent on circumstances, but somehow those circumstances are ALWAYS present.l everywhere for all of history. Good luck overcoming the perpetual societal acceptance of taxes.
@rsyncked@big_duca No kidding. I'm a carpenter with 5x my salary in a TFSA right now. I made more off investment gains than working the last two years. It's pretty silly that I paid tax on the money I made mudding drywall but not on the money I made buying gold stocks. I'm grateful tho.
