Last Monday, NYU Blockchain Lab hosted @thomassb1625, Smart Contracts Lead @OndoFinance, for a fireside chat on RWA infrastructure and on-chain finance.
Three things we took away:
1. Deploying the same asset across multiple chains is genuinely hard. Every chain has different logic, different code, and different bridging requirements. The engineering lift is real.
2. Ondo's security model assumes every layer could be compromised. The answer isn't to trust any single component; it's multi-layered verification, so no single failure takes down the system.
3. Thomas's advice to builders: go deep into the code. Most people stay on the surface. The ones who understand what's actually happening underneath will be rare and valuable.
Thank you, @Thomas and the @OndoFinance team. 🙏

Great blockchain talk & fireside chat with Jim Hwang, co-founder & COO of Firinne Capital, at NYU Blockchain Lab.
We discussed how crypto markets are structurally evolving:
- lower volatility regimes
- derivatives dominating price discovery
- ETF-driven institutional flows
- increasingly mature market structure
One idea that stood out: Short-term price action may increasingly be driven by liquidity, derivatives, and positioning, while long-term conviction around Bitcoin’s decentralization and store-of-value narrative can still coexist.
Also appreciated Jim’s perspective on focusing on “quality” in crypto: not just hype, but whether projects are actually solving problems and creating real value.
Thanks again, Jim, for the thoughtful discussion.

We hosted @austincampbell for a deep dive into how institutions are entering digital assets.
Key takeaways:
🌐 Stablecoins = infrastructure
⚖️ Regulation = unlock, but not overnight
🔐 Security = systemic priority
📊 Institutions are already integrating

This Monday, we hosted @robin_linus at NYU Blockchain Lab for a conversation on what Bitcoin actually needs to sustain itself long-term.
With everything happening around ETFs, stablecoins, and institutional adoption, we took a step back to focus on a more fundamental question: what actually keeps Bitcoin running over time?
His answer felt both urgent and grounded. A store of value still needs to be used. And real payment adoption depends on three things working together: usability, scalability, and privacy.
He even brought it down to something as simple as units. Asking people to transact in 0.00000100 BTC already makes payments feel unintuitive. Simplicity builds trust. Complexity creates hesitation.
One idea that stood out throughout the discussion: this is ultimately a human problem. And those tend to get solved.
Grateful for a conversation that was hard to stop thinking about. 🙏

We hosted @Uptodatenow (VP Research @galaxyhq ) at NYU Blockchain Lab.
Here's what's worth paying attention to
1. Agentic payments are the next frontier.
AI agents transacting autonomously on-chain — not a concept, it's being built. Which settlement layer wins when machines become economic actors?
2. Onboarding isn't a tech problem.
The bottleneck is UX + regulatory clarity. Mass adoption happens when users don't know they're using crypto. Closer than people think.
3. Most crypto research is noise.
Filter: ignore narrative-driven hype. Anchor to on-chain data + protocol fundamentals + macro positioning.
Packed room. Great energy. This is why we do this!
