The CAB3 debate in Parliament has been fruitful. MPs effectively relayed the message they were tasked to deliver by the electorate, who called for President @edmnangagwa’s term of office to be extended to 2030, among other governance reforms.
Let this sink in, MPs are messengers given a mandate by millions of Zimbabweans across the country to represent them in Parliament.
It’s clear that CAB3 is inevitably going to sail through without any impediments. Forget about the few rogue opposition MPs who have been downtrodding the people’s will by opposing this Bill, they are doomed to fail.

The People Spoke Through Parliament: Why the Call for a Referendum?
Though I hope to study law in the future, even from a layman's perspective I find it difficult to understand the growing calls for a referendum on Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 (CAB3) after Parliament has already conducted extensive public consultations.
The purpose of both a referendum and parliamentary public consultations is fundamentally the same—to establish what the people think about a proposed constitutional change. In the case of CAB3, Zimbabweans were given an opportunity to participate through public hearings held across the country and through written submissions submitted directly to Parliament.
Citizens, civic groups, churches, professionals, and political actors were all afforded a platform to express their support, concerns, or objections.
This raises an important question: if the people have already been consulted through constitutionally recognized processes, why the sudden insistence on a referendum? To many, the demand appears to stem less from a concern about public participation and more from dissatisfaction with the outcome of the consultation process.
From my understanding, CAB3 is not proposing the creation of a third presidential term. The Constitution would still provide for two terms. The debate concerns the duration of a term rather than the number of terms a President may serve. That distinction is crucial and should not be deliberately blurred for political convenience.
Ultimately, constitutional democracy requires respect for established procedures. Parliament sought the views of the people through public hearings and written submissions, and those views now form part of the legislative process. Whether one supports or opposes CAB3, the discussion should be grounded in the Constitution, the contents of the Bill, and the democratic processes that have already taken place.
The people spoke through Parliament. Why, then, the call for a referendum?

@RChikoo18078@mudharagee CAB3 is beneficial to Zanu PF and the country in general!! The General is our VP! How can beautiful bill like CAB3 be ugly to our VP? Stop being divisive
The constitution is not a Bible that cant be altered, its not cast in stone ,it is a dynamic ,volatile and evolving concept of the people's will at any given generation. Zimbabwe and its parliament is 2026 can not be held ransom by the marriage of convenience under which the 2013 constitution was crafted. By design Constitution are engineered to be ammendable and any idea and talk of "constitutional mutilation is hinged on a deep seated ignorance of the anatomy of constitutional democracy.
In 2030, the same person who wins the Presidency in Zimbabwe will be the one with a SOLID Political Party that wins a majority of MP seats.
Having a well organised political party will no longer be an option, but a NECESSITY after CA3!
The @CCCZimbabwe Secretary General @SengezoTsh17075 confirmed that he is set to expel the rogue MPs , that is, Agency Gumbo, Ropafadzo Makumire, and Takudzwa Ngadziore, for disturbing Parliament business yesterday.
They defied the CCC party position by vehemently opposing the democratically-wired and people-driven CAB3.
Tshabangu confirmed that by day's end, he would have submitted the recall letters to the Speaker of Parliament.
He urged fellow CCC MPs to treat the CAB3 debate with utmost seriousness and desist from reversing the people’s will by voting against this vital Bill.

WHERE ZIMBABWE MUST GO: To become a terminal lithium value chain in the Region. We have made significant value gain on lithium; a handful of countries in the region have modest lithium deposits comparatively, but significant deposits of minerals which input into lithium processing. We should ensure easy movement of lithium ore and related minerals like graphite which is abundant in Mozambique. Our new punchline must declare Zimbabwe as the Sub-Regional Lithium Value Centre!!!!!
