Almost 300 birds ringed in 3 days and one more working day with more #ringing and fruit counts for tomorrow. This would have been impossible without this amazing team! #MISMATCH#birds
Congratulations to @BorthwickMurray
for the @CIEEMnet Award for the best Postgraduate Student Project!! I feel very fortunate for having him working on our team at the #MISMATCH project as a @TuringScheme_UK intern. ๐

MSc Wildlife Biology & Conservation @ Edinburgh Napier University. Closing fieldwork element of our field course today, ending 5 days of biodiversity survey training @ Hermitage of Braid/Blackford Hill LNR, #Edinburgh, Scotland. #EdinburghNapier#wildlife#ecology#MSc#Scotland
3 weeks in to my 2nd (3rd?) #phd field season surveying breeding Dippers! ๐คฉ
The slightly earlier start this year means we're able to witness lots of singing, quarrels and nest building activity (missed last year due to COVID restrictions)!
Started my day by spotting my first 3 #swifts of the year. Spent the rest of the day surveying raptors in the sun in the #Ochill hills - first dry day of surveying in forever! Feels like summer is finally on its way โ๏ธ
Some great views this weekend monitoring peregrine and ravens in #Fife . Fantastic views of displaying and incubating birds. Plus some noisy flocks of c.200 jackdaws around the crags at Benarty ๐
Iโve got a grad job!! Thereโs been plenty of times in the last year that I thought this day would never come. Iโm so excited to see where my new role takes me ๐ฆ ๐
I love hearing news of former pupils. Today I learnt that @BorthwickMurray (from my first Higher Chem class @MonifiethHigh) graduated with a first class degree in Animal Biology and is taking steps towards a career in ecology. Congratulations Murray! ๐ https://t.co/irc4cEQmTl
An interesting blog from NatureScot about their support for the next generation of ornithologists, and we get a mention too! Mentoring the next generation of conservationists https://t.co/nqlUGR6cAt via @wordpressdotcom
An invaluable experience which has helped me take the first steps in my career in such a challenging time. Thanks to my mentor Sue Haysom and to @EdinburghNapier@EdNapierAlumni for creating the micro-mentoring scheme!
A great blog today from our ornithologist Sue & her mentee @BorthwickMurray on what they both gained from their #mentoring partnership under a Napier University programme https://t.co/j9sVaU80Az
