For everyone who claims storm chasers aren't out there helping public safety...here's the night we turned our storm chasing van into an ambulance. The ambulance couldn't get to the patient because they were cut off by the storm. We loaded them and drove them thru storm to EMS!

I've received a few emails asking if I was chasing storms across the Mid-South. I appreciate the concern and questions, but will answer here in case you're wondering. I wasn't. I generally don't chase storms east of -95°W of longitude. Hills, trees, curvy roads...not favorable.

I once stole a fire truck in Japan during an emergency. I didn't get in trouble because 1) It was an emergency and 2) I used it in attempt to save lives. During an emergency there is only one rule or law: Do whatever you have to do to save yourself and/or others.

@Climatologist49 Umm. I've seen the lights when we visit family in Canada. I don't "miss" seeing auroras. I didn't chase in 2020 due to pandemic, first in my adult life. I thought I was going to die. SDS is real!
