@future_grandpa @JerryWeiAI Should it be someone else’s job to gain funding for the individual scientists research? If so, how would they prioritize which projects to fund? Blindly handing money to scientists doesn’t sound like a solution to me.

@future_grandpa @JerryWeiAI Real scientists don’t think about marketing their ideas to benefit themselves. They are sharing their ideas with others to raise awareness and gauge interest. This benefits their research if they can raise funding for it. At what point does this become unnecessary “marketing”?

@future_grandpa @JerryWeiAI It’s not against the ethos of science. There are an unlimited amount of things than can be researched and funding is a way for society to force researchers to pay attention to what is important to it.

@future_grandpa @JerryWeiAI This isn’t sad at all. I can sit in my room and research something that’s interesting to me and provide a lot of value to myself. Doing this doesn’t pay my bills though, and I have to fund my own research. You can research anything you want unless you want to get paid.
