This profile includes many of the risk factors for gun violence and suicide. However, these are only group averages so not all COVID gun buyers fit this profile. Which also means a subgroup of COVID gun buyers is even MORE extreme than these averages suggest.
So the profile of a COVID gun buyer includes high rates of prior violence and antisocial behavior, suicidal thoughts and self-harm behaviors, many mental health & substance use problems, beliefs in violent conspiracies, and super into guns.
Today, my friend and colleague Debby Kashy passed away. We shared an office suite for almost twenty years, so I saw her almost every day since the beginning of my career. She will be missed. /1
